Buying books is my ownly splurge spending for myself (I don't buy clothes/shoes/purses). I will buy a bunch every few months. I know....I could go to the library, but in all honesty, for the books I read, they don't really carry them (ours is a VERY small and old library).

I am like MoonMommy in that books are pretty much my only splurge for myself. I love to read and I collect books. I also use the library, but I really do love buying books. For the most part I buy my books at flea markets, 2nd hand bookstores and yard sales so I get them really cheap. If I am really anxious to get a book then I will buy it new for the cheapest price that I can find.

This year I have already bought:
The entire Twilight Saga by Stephanie Meyer

    I plan to buy:
Chasing Harry Winston by Laura Weisberger
What I Did for Love by Susan Elizabeth Phillips
...And anything that I randomly find used and cheap that I am interested in.

Thanks to Madhen talking about the book sale she found I have all the books I will need for a long time. I spent my whole yearly book budget on the sale for craft books.
I managed to get 260 dollars worth of books for just over 55 dollars (some for as little as 49 cents!) and that includes shipping!
Yahoo, I can't wait for them to get here!

None! Between the Library & my Paperback Swap account I shouldn't have to buy any.

None....I use the library for all my reading. We have 3 libraries all within 1 hour of us, we have great interlibrary loan options and I unpack all the books that come into our library so have first chance at the new books.

I will buy any Star Wars paperback that comes out.
I will buy a few 'reference' books, after I've determined it has unique information I can't find online.
That's the only new books I'll buy (employee discount)
I'm such a bibliophile though, I can't resist a used or remainder booksale....

Since I do not live in city limits the cost of a library card is $55. I refuse to pay that. I have tried without luck to start a book swap. Last year I hit a garage sale and bought 4 huge packed boxes of books for $2.oo!!!! As I read them, I sold them for 25 cents apiece on EBAY. Then I put all the profit money aside for my "garage sale book fund".

Books are a huge weakness for me. I've been using the library more and plan to continue rather than buying books for myself. I have bought a few here and there for ds, but he is going to the library with me as well.
