    Default games people play

When I was growing up we had tons of board games and we played them constantly. I have always loved playing games even as an adult I can't get enough of them. Since we have no small children it's hard to play the games we love, but when we have company the games come out. What are your favorite games?

    1. card games= euchre, Shanghai, rummy,Uno
    2. board games= Risk( absolutely love this game), Life, Sorry, Clue, Battle Ship

We play lots of games with the kids and with friends when they come over. Some of the favs are Uno, and now we have Uno Attack (which is a lot of fun). My kids love all the usual kids games as well like Candy Land, Hi Ho CherryO, Chutes and Ladders. Some other favs are the Scrambled States of America (for my son), Tracks and Trestles (Thomas the Tank Engine game), Go Fish, and Crazy Eights.

We have "game night" at least 3 times a month in our neighborhood! Some of our favorites are "Balderdash" and "Outburst". We get games at garage sales or at the Goodwill- if we don't like them, we re-donate them back to the Goodwill. Makes for an evening of cheap fun with the neighbors!

The kids and I love playing Apple to Apple junior version. I wish we had more time to play board games together.

We play UNO Attack, Catch Phrase, Take 2 (with Scrabble pieces), Hell and Pinochle.

I've noticed that Mystery Date and Pretty, Pretty Princess have been coming out lately too by my older teens.

Hey, Sassyclass, did you ever live in Indiana?

Next to basketball, euchre is the state game, but I've lived in quite a few states and no one anyplace else has ever heard of it.

    Up north, too.

Euchre is one of those games that you either love or hate. It's the only game that engages my killer instinct - otherwise I'm very non-competitive.

I love euchre but usually only get to play it when we go to my friend's cottage for a girls weekend.

With the kids we play Life, Clue, Monopoly.

My DS and his Papa love to play Risk and Axis & Allies - a game from the 40's that is similar to Risk only more complicated. DS picked it up at a flea market last summer.

DH and DS also like to play chess. DD and I are more into checkers.

Milly, I'm a born and bred Hoosier. Ever hear of Terre Haute? My ex hubby's cousin used to be an assistant coach under Bobby Knight, and he went to school with Tony George (grandson of Tony Hulman and owner of Indy Raceway). I always heard the definition of a Hooseir was someone dribbling a basketball around the 500 track looking for mushrooms. Most of my family is still in Indiana. I get homesick a lot.

    Thumbs up Monopoly...

AND at my son's parent/teacher conference, she encouraged us to get Yatzee and to play OTHER board games with dice as it helps build his math skills...

Sure, I've heard of Terre Haute. In fact, I even know how to pronounce it properly. LOL.

Love your definition. Let me add this list, though:

Do people in Terre Haute refer to Amish schools as "Yoder Dame" like we do up north?

Milly, there weren't any Amish in that area when I was growing up but I love the Yoder Dame.
