Red Knife by William Kent Krueger. I love reading novels set in our neck of the woods.
I just finished Winter Study by Nevada Barr, also set in our area. Her novels bring the wilderness alive and I adore her protagonist, Anna Pigeon.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I finally finished Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follet. I had mentioned on another forum that I had stopped reading Follet years ago because every book had sexual violence in it and it upset me too much. He was known for spy and intrigue novels, so when I heard he wrote a long novel about cathedrals, I thought I'd give him another try. Well, the story line was fantastic, but again, he had at least five or six instances of woman being raped. I think this guy has a problem with women. Honestly, I do. I skipped over those parts and thought it could have been a classic, IMO, had he left out all the rapes. But, I doubt if I will read the sequel. The guy really gives me the creeps.
Also read, The Whole Truth, by David Baldacci. Good read. Lots of political intrigue and present day events mixed in the story. As always, these stories have some James Bond type unbelievable stuff.... But, this one rang true. It deals with political powers not just putting a spin on the truth, but actually creating truth and then using the media to spread the word. This story involved an Arms/weapons manufacturing tycoon who creates a fake story in a plan to plot Russia against China so that his business will benefit from world wide sales. Very believeable and it makes you wonder how much of this stuff goes on around the world.

I'm reading 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne. I've had it forever tucked in our "classics" group but have never read it....and don't remember doing so in my younger days lol. I've seen numerous versions of it in movie form and enjoyed them so a few weeks ago when I seen it sitting on the shelf while searching for something to read I decided to give it a try. So far I'm enjoying it far more than I thought I would.

Checks , I understand about the Pillars situation....I did read World without End, last summer, and honestly , I really don't remember if it was the same situation or not....but try WwoE, it is really good too....just skip over those parts if there are any....Loved the Twilight series, and didn't read John Adams, but I got the series on DVD from my library (free) and it was wonderful....would highly recommend it....
