FV Readers -- what's best?

We have lots of readers here at FV. So how about some feedback before holiday vacations and book present buying time?

What are the two or three best books you have read this year?

It's hard to choose, but I think the two best I've read are both by Connie Willis:

Doomsday Book: a double plot, serious, but with a lot of humor in it too. It is so haunting I just finished going through it a second time, and it was even richer the second time around. The characters are wonderful and will stay with you.

Not to Mention the Dog: it's built on the same premise as Doomday Book, and has a few of the same characters, and is hilarious. This one is pure fun. It's going to get a second reading too. It starts a bit slowly, but get through the first chapter and it just gets better and better.

I've never read Connie Willis.....may have to give her a try.

As for picking..........that is a tough one.........I can say that Mary Jane Clark spins a good mystery and while usually based around a newsroom......the plots varies. I also like JA Jance........she has a series based in Thombstone, AZ.....and another in Seattle.....and then a newer one. Pretty good.

I like the good page turners - mysteries. M J Clark fits into that category for me.

Hard to pick just one book............and I keep a list so I DON'T re-read......hate when I do that! Too many I need to get read.

I've read several good fictional pieces this year and lots of wonderful to read once types but if I had to pick the one that will stay with me and that I'll probably go back to it would be Born To Run (non-fiction) by Christopher McDougal. He weaves a wonderful story from real life while throwing in some lots of things to think about from other cultures to evolution and biology. If you have a runner on your list I would definately suggest this one. Even if you don't run this is a good one.

LOVED The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins. I also loved The Host by Stephanie Meyer.

The Help..i could read and reread that book many times

i liked The Road alot...some people disagree and hate it...

so many...i love to read. i read all the time!!!

I've gotten into books by Jeffrey Deaver lately. Seems I can't get enough of him.

Thanks for the replies and suggestions. I've been away from the computer since I posted that. I don't usually read mysteries, but may look into some of these.

I second Terry Pratchett. I read and re-read and re-read my favorites.
