Shane is portrayed in the show like he is in the graphic novel, so that's consistent.

On that note, 6 days away!

I've read up to the end of Volume 9 and let me tell you, WOW! That's all I can say is wow.

    Two-day marathon starts Saturday!

He should not have done his friends wife but she could have said no. Would u want some human companionship at that point. So I understand. Should have not tried to force self on laurie he is desperate for a human being to hold on to.
The Otis thing did not bother me anything for survival...
The barn was heartbreaking I understand he wanted them to see nothing human but the little girl showed the human side of Shane.....This is my take..
    Hubby said he is creeper....
Can u imagine the post traumatic shock they have...
If you remember, though, he put his head to Rick's chest to see if he was still breathing. So, he knew that Rick was still alive and left him there anyways, told Lori that he was dead and if you saw the first episode when Shane asks Rick about how things are with Lori, the look in his eye was to see if there was anything that he could get out of their separation.

Now, that last part may be speculation, but that's almost how it ALWAYS goes.

I am still bothered by Sophia and Otis' fate in the show versus the graphic novel, but if Kirkman thinks it's good for the sake of keeping it going then I'm fine. I just know there are some things in the graphic novel that will NEVER see the light of AMC's programming.

No, that's not a valid assumption. A coma patient can breathe very slowly - in a noisy environment (like with the army shooting) you could easily not hear a slow heart beat and slow breathing.

Well in the graphic novel, they both know he's still alive and in a coma at the hospital. So however they went from them both knowing he was alive when the outbreak happened to Shane telling Lori he was dead, I'll never know.

My understanding is that the graphic novel and the tv show are far enough removed from each other in direction that one shouldn't use one to compare the other.

It's certainly *possible* that Shane knew Rick was alive - but in the TV show he assured Lori that he thought Rick was dead, and regardless - if Shane had TRIED to carry Rick out of the hospital, they'd have both been killed - no way he could have gotten out w/ dead weight.

Shane's assurances don't mean crap, however. He lies. (Case in point: Otis's death)

I don't think it was ever stated that they thought he should have tried to take Rick out of the hospital. I think it was stated that if Lori and Carl knew Rick was alive, they wouldn't have left their home. I could be wrong.

I think he lied about Otis' death partially to make Otis a hero, to make it easier on his loved ones. And, you know, telling the truth would have made him a murderer and everyone would have doubts about him.

The graphic novel and the television show are not that far removed that they would completely change a major story line that they've already extended far enough. Major events from Volume 1 covered all of last season except for one and I don't want to ruin it for anyone that hasn't read it. But, they were pretty much using the major events from the novel.

The storyline with Shane, Rick and Lori is pretty big in both the show and the novel.

And I agree with Nichole. What Shane did was deplorable. Anyone in their right mind who knew that someone was still alive would have told their significant other the truth unless they had ulterior motives. Shane has shown that in both the first and the season season.

That someone lies about something is not proof that someone lies about all things.

We do not and can not know what Shane really knew about Rick unless the story reveals it.

He's still an ass though either way.
