i have memorized the emma thompson/ang lee version of this story.
i also like the 2008 BBC version with dan stevens. bleak, lonely , dreary, really pulls out emotions. need smelling salts for the opening scene, but i like anything andrew davies does. they had more time to tell the story than emma thompson did. it seems to me they blantantly copied ang lee's style, staging and camera angles. i like this one the best.
today i obtained from the library the 1986 version. hmm. it was filmed like the henry VIII and Elizabeth bbc miniseries. it was less frenetic, simpler sets and locations. i liked it. it was also truer to the book, but it left out margaret.
what are your opinions?
