    Default Hoarders last night

Did anyone watch the new episode last night where the woman had all kinds of weird expired foods? I got so grossed out when she ate this black stuff out of an old dirty jar I don't know if that show is real or staged but it was horrible!!
They said she was like this because her late husband was so abusive and it was obvious she had no self esteem. So sad

I don't have to watch the show. My husband's grandma is a hoarder. After a few visits, I realized I couldn't visit her in her home any more because of the hazards to my children and to my health (asthma). The biggest deal breaker was when she brought out a little bonnet to try on one of my girl's heads. It had a dead mouse in it. My husband remembers her then putting it on her own head anyway.

She has had mental health issues that her husband was able to help her keep under control. Since he died, the hoarding just got worse and worse. Her dementia is also increasing so at least she doesn't complain when something gets cleaned up. But the whole house is likely to have to be condemned and I think it would take several dumpsters to clean things up.

That show just disturbs me. My in-laws were borderline hoarders, but they lived on a farm and had multiple barns and outbuildings in which to store stuff.

I saw that exact scene last night - the black stuff in jar, they were both wearing gloves and well she pulled the black chunk of pooh outta the jar and I swore she took a bite! At that point, I had to change the channel. ICK!

I hate to admit this but shows like that make my house look pristine I am slowly in the process of sorting things out and purging especially now that DH has moved in. We need to find a home for everything or get rid of it.

I saw it. I couldn't believe they said at the end that adult protective services hadn't done anything yet. I generally catch the show on my computer when i get a chance and I have to say that woman was probably one, if not the most, mentally ill I've seen them have on. Most of the time there seems to be a connection to undelt with grief and loss. This woman was suffering from some major trauma due to the abusiveness of her husband.

Yeah it motivates me to clean my house too! I watched some of it last night and the people had so much stuff piled all over the house it was like an obstacle course! My house could never be like that I'm claustrophobic. Too much stuff please!!!

I can't watch this show. I watched it one weekend when they had like a whole day of it and after a couple shows I was so depressed and down I asked myself what the heck am I watching this for?

I think I got depressed b/c as some said, the people are depressed, mentally ill and sadly from the shows I saw some of those homes COULD have been way nicer than mine had the crap been cleaned up. That in itself was depressing! LOL I think they need serious help. Cleaning up their house is a short term solution ......... whatever causes them to hoard will persist and they will just do it again to themselves.. depressing!
