Question Do you ever find yourself doing this when reading a book?

I use to read books just because I love reading. I hardly ever got into the books per se, just an enjoyment I've always had.

But recently I find myself getting deeply into the books. When I read The Covenant by Beverly Lewis I was so upset by the secrets they were hiding and then by some of things the Amish allow their young adults to do.

I'm now reading another book and already I'm getting ticked at the husband for his lack of responsibility. Julia's Hope by Leisha Kelly has already stirred within me some of dreams as a homesteader and how I want to be a strong woman like the wife/mother is in this book.

Do books do this to you or do you just read a book and forget it once it is read?

I do find myself getting emotional attached to some books I read. I find myself wanting to reach out to some of the people in them. Weird, huh?

Yes, I do that too. It just depends on how close to home the book hits and how well written it is.

I think that sometimes I actaully befriend some of the people in my books. I actaully call my books my treasures, and my son calls them friends. I think I KNOW Larua Ingalls Wilder, I have read so many of her books, went to her homestead and grave. Cried just being there.........yes to your answer.

Yes! Books were my best friends as a lonely little girl. My mom, though she could not read well herslef, made sure I got the best out of all the books available to me.
Its as if she knew she wouldn't be there to help me through life!

Heaven, IMO the Covenant is Beverly Lewis's best book yet!! I can hardly wait until the next book comes out because I want to find out a question I have in regards to something in the book. I won't say it here in case others haven't read the book and plan on it, but it is an excellant read!!

Growing up, my father always taught me that books are your friends. I take good care of my books and get incredibly, emotionally into some of the stories. I haven't read a book like that in a while, though, so I'm hoping that some of these fiction books I got for Christmas will draw me in.

The next Abram's Daughters book is due in February, according to the poster at my fave Christian Bookstore... but http://www.bethanyhouse.com doesn't say anything about it...

Is it the running around years you don't approve of? Or ? I LOVE the Amish way of life for the most part, and I've visited the Amish areas here in Indiana a lot.. we also have a small Mennonite section here in the area I live in.. they are very nice, calm people. They just kind of 'radiate' the love of God

yes i like to read & depends on the book how much I get into it. Some make me feel sad & some happy. If the book hold my attention & I don't want to put it down, then when I finish with that book, I want to find another by that author.

Same here, and to this day I would have to say they still are.

Judith, I love the Amish lifestyle, their gentle nature, their simplicity. I do not like their "running around years" has I think it only brings on problems and "secrets" as in this book!!!

I can hardly wait for the new book though!!

I decide how good a book is by the degree to which an author gets me lost in the book. If I can identify with the characters...if I am deeply engroosed in the book, then I consider it a good book!
