Have you ever met a celebrity or famous person?
I used to work in room service at the Hyatt hotel in Boston back in '94. Bob Newhart was staying with us, and it was so cool when I got to take his room service order. I really wanted to bring up his order to him, but I was too scared and also didn't want to invade his privacy.

The only famous people that I got to be around were some football players. My son went to a football camp, and I got to see Mark Brunner of the Pittsburg Steelers, and Duce Staley of the Philadelphia Eagles. My son on the other hand, got to hang out with a bunch of them for an entire week. (he went to the Eagles camp one year, and the Steelers camp for 3) Oh yeah, I forgot about Tony Stewart. He was at an auto show, and we got to hang out and hear him talk for about an hour, and then we got autographs. Seems like a nice guy.

I met Reba McEntire backstage after one of her concerts, love her, I think she is a great entertainer and a wonderful person all around!! I also met Elvis Stoyko, his hometown is right near where we used to live. I had the kids in swimming and the ice rink was on the other side of the recreation center, he always practiced there. Nice guy!!

I like Elvis Stoyko...so cute

I don't think I've met anyone famous. I've seen a few of the NASCAR drivers in our town during the Talledega race, but never met them. I would be to embarrassed to go up to someone like that.I know they get tired of people walking up to them all the time.

I grew up in Hawaii and my father manages a resort there that became a second home for my brothers, sister and I. We met lots of celebrities and some have even become family friends. Do any of you remember Artie Johnson from the show "Laugh In"? He played the little german guy that peeked out from behind things saying "very interesting". We spent lots of time with him and his lovely wife and they still are good friends with my parents and have dinner with them when they are in town. Another favorite of mine is Sidney Portier, he is so classy and the nicest guy! As kids we played with the children of royalty, had dinner with astronauts and brain surgeons, met authors and musicians, head of state, took movie stars on tours of the ancient Hawaiian Petrogliffs, helped fit them for masks and snorkles, took them snorkling and out to watch canoe races, etc. As an adult, I had a wonderful "moment" when I watched my oldest son playing in the sand with one of Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn's children (who was also a baby about the same age as my son at the time, they were both getting sand everywhere and having a great time!). We never made a big fuss over the celebrities that we met and just treated them as people. I think they all enjoyed NOT being asked for their autographs and just being able to be "normal" and relax. Oh, I almost forgot, our select high school choir (all 6 if us) entertained Tip O'Neill and the entire US senate when they were on a trip to Hawaii. Mr. O'Neill was very gracious and came up to meet all of us and thank us. It was not the first time I had met him and he remembered me from before.
Blessings,
