Another Sandra Dallas Book - Alice's Tulips
Remember she wrote the Persian Pickle Club and the Diary of Mattie Spence.
Here is another one.
Write up: Alice Bullock is a young newlywed whose husband, Charlie, has just joined the Union Army, leaving her on his Iowa farm with only his formidable mother for company. Equally talented at sewing and gossip, and not overly fond of hard work, Alice writes lively letters to her sister filled with accounts of local quilting bees, the rigors of farm life and the customs of small-town America. But no town is too small for intrigue and treachery, and when Alice finds herself accused of murder, she discovers her own hidden strengths and finds support from unlikely sources.
Rich in details of quilting, Civil War-era America and the realities of a woman's life in the nineteenth century, Alice's Tulips is Sandra Dallas at her best, a dramatic and heartwarming tale of friendship, adversity and triumph.
Sounds like another great book by her!! I'm going to be reading it within the next couple of days.

I really loved this book. I did not want to put it down. I was surprized at the outcome and would highly recommend it to anyone. Homestead mamma, I think you and I have the same taste in books.

CJ,I read Alice's Tulips after I read the first book you recommended by that author. You will enjoy this one and I'm sure it won't take you long to read.

This is the absolute best book. I loved it and just finished the last page just now.
I'm always amazed at how women pull together and Sandra Dallas has a way of writing that does such an excellant job of showing how woman can pull together.
She has become one of my favorite authors. I also like the fact that she is a history buff and her main focus is the history of quilts!!! Gotta love an author like that!!

Chelle, no none of her books are in a sequel, so you can read anyone at anytime.
All her books though have a central theme - some sort of quilting. This one was quite different than the rest of her books (she doesn't have that many out yet), but it was a thriller!!! Had me guessing and on my seat almost from the beginning.
