    Default Julias hope 8-21 questions.

sorry this seems like alot of chapters but i didn't get last weeks down so i am going to do them all on this thread.

Now we are further into the book

what do you think of the relationship between Julia and Sam.

do you think you could have found a stranger to ask about living in their house??

what was your first impression of Emma?

If you were in Emma's position would you have just given your home away??

Do you have the faith, these people have? If not do you wish you did?

Do you think it was the right idea to have Emma move in with them

Do you think that some of these ideas could work today or is the world totally diffrent now??

what did you think of Miss Hazel coming to the house, was it right or wrong of her. Did you see her point in it.

Miss Hazel gave Sam a lashing, do you think that was approprate?

could you live off the land the way Julia has learned?

would you if you had to do so?

Them moving Emma home so soon, do you think that was a good idea?

the neighbors really seemed to help would you consider doing that if you had been in the position of them (with 9 children and all)

did you think Julia was a little harsh with her attitude toward the neighbors and what Emma had given them when Emma also gave Julia and her family the house.

anything else you want to add????

    are you enjoying the book??

I so want to read this book but my library says it will 6 to 8 months before I can get it on loan. I won't stop trying. I've been reading along with you all on the questions. It just makes me want to read it even more.

    You have great questions Heaven.

    Keep up the good work.

What do you think of Julia and Sam's relationship - well, first of all I think Sam is threatened by all that Julia knows. I think there lack of communication hinders their relationship. I also think that Julia might feel a little bit "superior" to Sam in that she can do so many things he can't. I also think that Sam is intimidated by all that Julia can do so that doesn't help their relationship in any way. I think its a relationship where one partner gives ALL and the other partner takes ALL, at least at this time in the book. We all know who is giving the ALL!!

Do you think you could have found a stranger to ask to live in their home - yes, if I was in Julia's situation, it wouldn't take me long to find that stranger either!!

What was your first impression of Emma At first I thought she was a bit eccentric and that she might have some mental deficiencies, but only at first.

If you were in Emma's position, would you have given your home away I would hope that I would have if it meant helping others have a home, especially those with kids. But having never been in that situation, I'm not sure.

Do you have faith these people have? If not, do you wish you did I wish I had the faith of Emma. I do have a very strong faith, but hers was put into action and thats where I'd love to be!!

Do you think it was the right idea to have Emma move in with them Yes, without hesitation I say yes!!

Do you think that some of these ideas could work today or is the world totally different? Great question, heaven. Yes I do believe some of these ideas could work today. When I look at the Amish and how they take care of their elderly or the Chinese and how they take care of Grandpa & grandma (along with other family members) I do believe it could work today. I don't know if many of the younger generation would be willing to give up what they have to take care of an elderly relative in the way Julia did. I would have loved to have my great granny live with us. She was my hero and still is to this day, although she has been gone for years!!

What did you think of Miss Hazel coming to the house - I'm sure that Miss Hazel was one of those busy bodies that every little town has, even where I live. I personally think it was wrong of her, but then again she may have only been looking out for Emma, although I don't think that was her motive. Her motive was to cause trouble, pure and simple!!! This is one area that I think the author could have worked on more, in rather than making Miss Hazel a busy body, she could have made her a very close friend, who was truly watching out for Emma.

Miss Hazel gave Sam a lashing. Do you think that was appropriate In my books, everyone should have given him a lashing!!!!

Could you live off the land like Julia did In a heartbeat!!!

Would you if you had too In a heartbeat!!

Them moving Emma home, do you think that was too soon No I don't. I think there was a rush because they didn't know how long she had and Julia especially wanted to give her back her garden. If it had been me, I would have wanted the same thing for Emma.

The neighbours really seemed to help. Heaven, do you really think so. The neighbours wanted Emma's place. I don't think they wanted to help in any way, especially him!!

Do you think Julia was a little harsh in what Emma had given the neighbours, etc. Quite frankly no I don't think Julia was harsh in any way. She seen them taking advantage of Emma and voiced her opinion. Although she had no right to do so really because of what Emma had done for her, personally I think she was very annoyed at how they had taken advantage of Emma and she was miffed at Emma that Emma had allowed it.

Great questions Heaven!! I loved this book, one of the best books I've read in a long time.
