WOMEN OF PLEASURE QUARTER: Ever since Westerners arrived in Japan, they have been intrigued by Japanese womanhood and, above all, by geisha. This fascination has spawned a wealth of extraordinary fictional creations, from Puccini’s Madame Butterfly to Arthur Golden’s Memoirs of a Geisha. But as denizens of a world defined by silence and mystery, real geisha are notoriously difficult to meet and even to find. As a result, their history has long been cloaked in secrecy.
Geisha Life:
"Celebrated as the most successful geisha of her generation, Mineko Iwasaki was only five years old when she left her parents' home for the world of the geisha. For the next twenty-five years, she would live a life filled with extraordinary professional demands and rich rewards. She would learn the formal customs and language of the geisha and study the ancient arts of Japanese dance and music. She would enchant kings and princes, captains of industry and titans of the entertainment world, some of whom would become her dearest friends. Through great pride and determination, she would be hailed as one of the most prized geishas in Japan's history, and one of the last great practitioners of this now fading art form." In Geisha, a Life, Mineko Iwasaki tells her story, from her warm early childhood, to her intense yet privileged upbringing in the Iwasaki okiya (household), to her years as a renowned geisha, and finally, to her decision at the age of twenty-nine to retire and marry, a move that would mirror the demise of geisha culture.
TheFamily story of Bonnie and Clyde : Marie Barrow Scorma, helps Steele set the record straight on the life of her older brother, Clyde Barrow. Utilizing unpublished photographs and her mothers' diary, Steele and Scoma reveal previously unknown details of Bonnie and Clyde.
GOD save the Sweet Potato Queens: In 1999, Jill Conner Browne, royal boss of Jackson, Mississippi's own glorious Sweet Potato Queens, introduced them to the world in the hilarious bestseller The Sweet Potato Queen's Book of Love (which contained everything you ever need to know about Love, Life, Men, Marriage, and the importance of Being Prepared). But, fortunately for us, that was not the final chapter in the Queens' splendid saga. The Sweet Potato Queens still have plenty of stuff to say and valuable wisdom to impart about how they went from being Cute Girls to Fabulous Women, including:
Dating for the Advanced, or Advancing
The Joys of Marriage — if you must
More Delicious, Death-Defying Recipes
The Promise for Men — six little words that will make any woman
Lolling About — the official activity of the Sweet Potato Queens
The Chili queen: Life may have been hard on Addie French, but when she meets friendless Emma Roby on a train, all her protective instincts emerge. Emma's brother is seeing her off to Nalgitas to marry a man she has never met. And Emma seems like a lost soul to Addie - someone who needs Addie's savvy and wary eye. It isn't often that Addie is drawn to anyone as a friend, but Emma seems different somehow. When Emma's prospective husband fails to show up at the train depot, Addie breaks with all her principles to shelter the girl at her brothel, The Chili Queen. But once Emma enters Addie's life, the secrets that unfold and schemes that are hatched cause both women to question everything they thought they knew.
ALICE'S TULIPS:
Alice Bullock is a young newlywed whose husband, Charlie, has just joined the Union Army, leaving her on his Iowa farm with only his formidable mother for company. Equally talented at sewing and gossip, and not overly fond of hard work, Alice writes lively letters to her sister filled with accounts of local quilting bees, the rigors of farm life, and the customs of small-town America. But no town is too small for intrigue and treachery, and when Alice finds herself accused of murder, she must rely on support from unlikely sources.
These are the books that we are looking at. if you have already voted but see something you like. either vote again, or if you can't then just add the on you want to see go ahead and post it here thanks.

OMG - I voted for Alice's Tulips and even if it doesn't get voted in, you ladies have got to read it.
It is the best of hers I've read yet. I can't put it down (thats why you haven't seen me around today).
I won't tell you the outcome, but I know it will leave you disturbed and chomping at the bit, and yet it will show you what woman can do when they stick together. It will even show you how a wonderful old woman (mil) can change and save the day!!!!
Awesome book!!!!
