the Covenant 15-19
Was Leah right trying to keep Sadie from seeing Derry?
Derry called the baby a "half breed" if you lived in the 1940's would you have adopted a baby from this situation?
Abraham took his father in law with him to the neighbors why does he started to regret it.
If sadie was your child would you have figured out she was pregant??
Derry asked if Jonas' mother knew anyone who would take a baby should Jonas have suspected something then?
The mother finally told the girls that she was pregant. But she didn't notice Sadies reaction.
What did you think about the ride and visit Leah and Jonas had.
Sadie is thinking about going to the singing to try to find a boy was that the right thing to do??

Was Leah right trying to keep Sadie from seeing Derry?
Yes, she was looking out for her sister and for their faith too.
Derry called the baby a "half breed" if you lived in the 1940's would you have adopted a baby from this situation?
Of course, but then I would have adopted any baby. I think the rules were just so much stricter during that time frame and religion had a greater part in who someone was.
If sadie was your child would you have figured out she was pregant?? I think so. I'm just a nosy mom. Of course the mom had a hard enough time figuring out she was pregnant herself.
Derry asked if Jonas' mother knew anyone who would take a baby should Jonas have suspected something then? No, it was just too unusual for him to think of something like that.
The mother finally told the girls that she was pregant. But she didn't notice Sadies reaction. I guess she was just too caught up in her own condition and wondering how this would affect her relationship with her husband and the shock of it all.
What did you think about the ride and visit Leah and Jonas had. Cute.
Sadie is thinking about going to the singing to try to find a boy was that the right thing to do?? No.

Was Leah right trying to keep Sadie from seeing Derry?
I think she was trying to protect Sadie the only way she knew how. I hope I would have tried myself.
Derry called the baby a "half breed" if you lived in the 1940's would you have adopted a baby from this situation? Absolutely, the same applies then as it does now. That baby was innocent and shouldn't have to suffer the consequences of the parents.
Abraham took his father in law with him to the neighbors why does he started to regret it. I can't remember, but I think it is because they don't see eye to eye on something.
If sadie was your child would you have figured out she was pregant?? Yes. I realise she (the mother) thought her and Sadie had the flu, but once she figured out she was pregnant, I felt she should have started asking questions of Sadie when she was still ill all the time.
Derry asked if Jonas' mother knew anyone who would take a baby should Jonas have suspected something then? Yes, I think that was a rather odd question coming from a young man in the 1940's.
The mother finally told the girls that she was pregant. But she didn't notice Sadies reaction. I feel she was too caught up in the idea she was pregnant again herself. I don't think she noticed anyones reaction.
What did you think about the ride and visit Leah and Jonas had. I was happy for Leah, she sounded happy for the first time in the book!
Sadie is thinking about going to the singing to try to find a boy was that the right thing to do?? No, but then I haven't been in her shoes. It was the 1940's and I think she was desperate. A single mother back then was sure to be ostracized.

Was Leah right in trying to protect Sarah from seeing Derry I'm not sure on this one. I wish I knew what was going to happen in the next book, some of these answers would be easier to answer.
The reason I answered "not sure", is because often when you try to do this, you only draw their interest more into wanting to do the thing you shouldn't.
Derry called the baby "halfbreed". If you lived in the 40's would you have adopted a baby from this situation Without a doubt. All 3 of my adopted kids are from different nationalities and whether then or now, I wouldn't hesitate to adopt.
If Sadie was your child, would you have figured out she was pregnant Yes, we went through that with our oldest daughter and I knew very quickly. I think the mom wasn't very observant in regards to her daughters, either of them. I would have thought being Amish, she would have taken more of an interest in knowing what they were up too. Maybe it was because she was afraid to ask, knowing all along.
Derry asked if Jonas mom knew anyone - yes, I would think that would be a very odd question for a young man to ask and especially in the 1940's.
The mother finally told everyone she was pregnant and didn't notice Sadies reaction She seemed quite focused on herself in ALL aspects of living. I'm sure if Leah was pregnant and had reacted, she wouldn't have noticed either.
What do you think about the ride Leah and Jonas had I think it was neat and that she was happy and carefree for a change. Not sure this relationship is going to work out though!!!
Sadie going to the singing to try and find a boy, was that the right thing to do No it wasn't, but again I think she is desperate to find someone, in order to cover up what is going on in her life. Again, like Diana said, I haven't been in that type of situation, not sure what I would have done.
Great questions!!
