I love Little House and the Waltons & Dr.Quinn. I watch a lot of oldies. I love reruns of MacGiver. He's so cute!

The Waltons!!! Anyone remember the pilot show called "The Homecoming" with Patricia Neal as Olivia Walton? It was a Christmas special. Well, Olivia made an applesauce cake that was made every Christmas. Thought I would post the recipe...

~Olivia Walton's Applesauce Cake with Whiskey Frosting~
Cake:
3 1/2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
2 tsps nutmeg
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cloves
pinch of salt
1 cup chopped walnuts
2 cups white raisins or light raisins (can use dark if prefer)
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 (16 ounce) jar applesauce
Frosting:
1/4 cup butter, softened
1 tblsp heavy cream or milk
1 lb confectioners sugar
pinch salt
3-4 tblsps Bourbon (to taste)

1. Sift flour with soda, spices, and salt.
2. Combine nuts and raisins in bowl and stir in 1/2 cup of flour mixture.
3. Cream butter in another bowl until light and fluffy.
4. Beat in eggs one at a time, beating thoroughly after each.
5. Alternately add flour mixture and applesauce, beginning and ending with the flour.
6. Stir in raisin mixture.
7. Spoon into 10-inch greased tube or bundt pan.
8. Bake in preheated 350º oven for 1 hour and 20 minutes (or until cake tester inserted in center comes out clean).
9. Cool in pan for 15 minutes, then remove from pan and finish cooling on wire rack.
10. Spread with frosting.
11. Cover until ready to serve.
Whiskey Frosting:
1. Stir together the butter and cream, beat in 1 cup of the sugar.
2. Blend in remaining sugar and the bourbon until proper spreading consistency.
3. Makes enough frosting to cover a 10-inch tube pan.

Wonder if they got the whiskey from the Baldwin sisters...LOL

I loved Littled House on the Prairie and also loved Dr. Quinn. I used to babysit for this family every Saturday and I watched Dr. Quinn there every week. I loved it! As a kid I ALWAYS watched the Little House shows and read all the books!

Yep I loved Little House..I just thought of........Eight is Enough..loved that show..I remember watching Hillstreet Blues with my mom and dad when i was a teen..oh and there was ..um..darn it....Family thats it..i think it had Kristy Mc Neil in it..i'll have to think about that..
Oh and Columbo...my Uncle was good friends with Peter Faulk..thought that was kinda cool..
