Question What are you reading this week?

I've just finished reading a wonderful series by Beverly LaHaye & Terri Blackstock.

The four books are Seasons under Heaven, Showers in Season, Times and Seasons and Season of Blessing, in that order.

This had to be one of the most wonderful series I've read in a long time. Its about 4 women's lives, who are neighbours and friends and who go through trials of having a Down syndrome child, one child going to jail for selling drugs, one child needing a heart transplant and the main character dying of breast cancer at the end. Each book tells the life of one neighbour, but intertwines the other women in each book.

I would highly recommend these 4 books for your enjoyment. They have such a wonderful way of portraying everyday lives, with all the struggles, triumphs. I've never read a series like this that portrays living in the 21st century, such as they have. I laughed and I cried through this series.

Today I started a new book Prelude by B.J. Hoff, one of my favorite writers.

I just finished my very first Patricia Cornwell book last night (Postmortem), and have started a new book - Letters of a Woman Homesteader by Eleanor Pruitt Stewart. It's real letters of the experiences of Eleanor in 1909 - very interesting so far!

I am reading a horror suspense book by Dan Simmons called A Winter Haunting. I am also listening to a book CD in my car on my commute back and forth to work called The Lake House by James Patterson.

I'm reading The Devil Wears Prada. So far, so good, it's about the boss from H*ll. I've had it on reserve at the library for 2 weeks and just picked up yesterday.

I am still on the Tamar Myers books. She is a great mystery writer and her main characters are wonderful. The books also include Amish/Mennonite recipes. YUM

I just finished Daughter of Venice, bu Donna Jo Napoli. It 's a young adult book about growing up during the Renaissance in Venice. It's a good read and gives kids a look into the home life of different levels of society during this time.

I think I will start the new Harry Potter next.

Oh, I loved that book (HP & The Order of the Phoenix), DH bought it for me and I couldn't put it down. I loaned it to a girl at work and haven't gotten it back yet. In fact, I haven't seen her at work in 2 weeks? Her boyfriend still works there so I plan on asking him for it (or the money for a new one) the next time I see him.
