    Default I saw...

two movies this weekend and liked them both!

My friend Jannifer and I neither one had kids on Friday night, so we rented Chicago and watched it. I thought it was great! I will probably buy a copy of this.

Saturday DH, DS#2 and I watched Shangai Knights. What a hoot! I am going to have to get it again so I can see what I missed!

For me to like TWO new movies is almost unheard of!

I also saw Chicago and really liked it though it did get a bit slow at times. I also saw Agent Cody Banks with dd and loved it too. It was a cute kid's movie.

Has anyone seen "Iris" with Dame Judi Dench, Jim Broadbent, and Kate Winslet? I understand it's very good and got it rented from the library.

I also want to see "The Magdalene Laundries" (or maybe it's "The Magdalene Sisters"??). It was on 60 Minutes at least a couple of years ago. It's about the forced labor in the laundries by the Magdalene Sisters, I believe in Dublin or County Cork. Girls were sent there by their families for having children out of wedlock; looking "too pretty" and thereby being a temptation to the boys; and various other reasons. Being sentenced to the laundries was supposed to wash away their sins, and all too sadly neither the Church in Ireland nor the Sisters are coming to grips with acknowledging their wrong-doing. Many girls died either trying to escape their laundry prison or died, period. The survivors are extremely bitter.

Not the most edifying film one might want to see, but informative if you like this sort of thing.
