Thumbs up BOOK REVIEW - Living Well on a Shoestring

Living Well on a Shoestring is from the penny-pinching editors of YANKEE magazine.

This book is along the lines of the TWG and has some great tips in it. It has over 1,501 tried and true hints, tips and secrets to help reduce your spending and live well every day.

    Some of the tips are:

~save $$ on your next new car - purchasing it at an auction
~comb your attic for overlooked objects of art
~trade in costly doggy biscuits for raw baby carrots

    You'll also learn how to:

~spot hidden treasures at local auctions and yard sales
~haggle for deals (I love this one!!)
~Celebrate holidays and other occassions for pennies

I would highly recommend this book for someone starting out in frugality or for a quick pick me up if you've fallen off the frugal wagon and want to be reminded how to get back on it. Its a great resource to have in your home library but if you don't want to spend the money to purchase it, you can probably find it in your local library.

I also enjoyed this book. I did find that there were a lot of ideas that were more geared towards those living in the country as opposed to the city, but there were still a lot of practical ideas that I was able to adapt to my own lifestyle.

I got this at a sale (yard or library book, can't remember which) dirt cheap. It's a good read!
