Thumbs up BOOK REVIEW - Vanna's Afghans A to Z

I picked this book up at the library yesterday and what a neat book.    It has 2 afghans for each letter of the alphabet and for that don't know, Vanna White crochets and does absolutely stunning work.

This book is perfect for the beginner or the more advanced.   There are patterns for kids's afghans, fun afghans or for afghans you want to give to a special friend/family member.

Each afghan's pattern is only on one page, so they aren't so complicated that you can't figure them out.    She has also put in a few little tips which would help the inexperienced.   And at the back of the book, are illustrations for the stitches she uses on her afghans.

This book was published in 1994 so you probably can't purchase it any longer, but it comes high recommended if you can get it from your public library.

I have a couple Vanna crochet books. I love to crochet and this is about the weather when I enjoy it the most. The thing I like about it so much is that it is one thing that was given to me by my mother. She loved to crochet and was SO good at it.

I found it quite surprising that a beauty queen like Vanna crochets, it made me like her all that much more!

Are you working on an afghan CJ?

Robin, first check your pm okay.

Yes I'm working on an afghan, but not one from Vanna's book.    I just wanted to pick up a couple books to get some ideas of what I want to eventually crochet.    The afghan I'm working on is in the book [u]I Can't Believe I'm Crocheting[/b].   I thought I'd try a simple one first.

I love crochet, althought I haven't done any 3D crochet (no wearables, just afghans, scarves, shawls, etc) yet. I am learning to branch out my abilities to the making of slippers (See SewCrafty - Diana's post for "pocketbook slippers" in the Needle Arts forum) And soon a long vest is in the works too. I would love to start some new afghans for our couches and the end of our beds. Thanks for the heads up about the books, CJ!
