Thumbs up Movie Review: "Under the Tuscan Sun"

DH and I went to see it about two weeks ago. That was the first movie we'd seen in a theater since the baby was born... we even took her, and she watched part of it and slept through the rest. (One woman even commented afterwards on how quiet she was... thank goodness!)

It's a story about a woman who has just gone through an unexpected divorce and her whole world has basically been turned upside down. Some friends send her on a trip to Tuscany, and she winds up buying a run-down house there and restoring it. The movie follows her through all of the lessons she learns about herself and what she wants in life... all symbolically represented, of course, in the house.

I loved it, and DH agreed that the scenery was beautiful, but he kept (jokingly) asking me... "now, what was the plot again?". (He's an action movie fan!) In our house, those sort of movies get the label of "chick flick".

    I'd definitely recommend it.

    Has anyone else seen it?

Thanks for the review. I've been wondering about seeing this myself. Looks like I may have to now!

I saw it and was a little disappointed. I have a feeling that it's one movie where I would have definitely preferred the book. Sometimes I like my imagination better than what some screenwriter imagines.
