Lucie, can I make a suggestion. I find that those type of books are pretty expensive for what they have in them, because most of them say pretty much the same thing.

When I really started to get radical, I went to our public library and did a search on all the books they had on frugality, living below our means, etc. Then I brought those books home and if my library didn't have them, I got them to bring them in on inter-library loan.

I read everything I could possibly get my hands on. Then the ones that I felt were best for ME, I purchased, thus saving me probably hundreds of dollars.

The other thing is if you don't have the extra $$ to purchase these books, you can just keep a list of them and take them out of the library over and over again. Thats what I did.

I'm going to send you a pm, watch for it.

I did the same thing CJ did. I have a few favorites that I keep here, but the rest I get from the library.

I went gung-ho when the Tightwad Gazette came out - had to have it! It offered a lot of good avice that I needed right then....after that I checked out library book after library book and found exactly what CJ said - they all said the same things....I'm not suggesting that the Gazette is the "end all, be all" but it worked for me!!

Yes, I'll be looking in the library, but ours, is mostly french books. Maybe our library can borow a book from another library, for me...I'll see about that...

That's a good idea, Carolyn, to scan some pages on my computor...maybe I'll do that.

Yes, Debbie, I have the Complete Tightwad Gazette. I love vey much, but I was looking for more, since Pierre is not working and we don't know for how long...

    Thanks everyone!

I asked for this book for Christmas last year and my Dad bought it for me. I enjoyed it, as I enjoy frugal reading, but I agree that it pretty much just said the same thing that many of the other frugal living books say.
