    Default If you've seen Divine Secrets of the Yaya Sisterhood, can you tell me...

    What was wrong with the mother?  I was watching this on TV last night when DD decided to start crying right at the part where they were discussing it with the daughter.  I'd gotten that she was alcoholic and probably addicted to those green pills, but then they seemed to be making some kind of other revelation, and I missed it.    Was it just the alcohol?  Was she mentally ill?  The rest of the movie they just made comments like "now that you know".      And if they were just referring to her being alcoholic, wasn't that already obvious to the daughter?

    The mother was sent to a mental hospital for awhile to get better.

    She was an alchoholic, and the dr gave her 'speed' pills to get her to give up alchohol. The pills made her loose it and she beat the living crap out of her kids. That is when she was sent to the hospital, but she didn't want anyone to know that she was crazy....does that make sense?
