The Bachelor
Has anyone seen the previews for this? This guy gets to choose one out of 25 women to be his wife. It looks like it will be like a reality show meets the dating game. What do you all think about this? I'll tell you my thoughts later.

I personally find it ridiculous that 25 women would compete for one guy. Reminds me of that who wants to be a princess show, BUT the previews are compelling. I may watch just to watch. *LOL*

It makes me very sad that marriage is being taken so lightly. It also makes me angry that those gals are letting themselves be treated so cheaply. I guess I am old fashioned but, I thought two people took a vow to God to spend their lives together. I didn't think choosing a life partner was just to get good TV ratings. I guess I am showing my age. Forgive me for ranting on!

I agree with both of you (Sara and Kathi), but I will watch it like most of the reality shows so I can talk about how ridiculous it is LOL

This is exacly how I feel! I think it is a sad commentary on life in America today. It reminds me of "Who Wants to Marry a Multi-Millionaire" Remember that one?Originally posted by KathiS

I am also so very sick of reality shows. I just don't get the attraction. I have enough reality in my life without watching someone starve on an island, drink blood, marry a stranger, etc.
I must be showing my age too.

I just watched it. I do agree with the moral issues that everyone has mentioned, but the show is funny.
This guy chose his bride right away. You can tell who he wants. I think it's ludicrous, but it's just so funny to watch.
I don't watch much tv, so I don't keep up with any of the reality shows at all. I watch maybe one or two per season for giggles and that's about it.
My husband and I just laughed during this show and it was fun.
If any of you did watch, did you see that one girl bawling that she wasn't handed a rose? I mean come on now. This chick was having a psychological meltdown and saying things like I am a good person over and over.

It really scares me that most of them are educated, professional women. Did you see at the introductions, they are all look like they have lives-I expected a bunch of out of work actresses. Go figure.

Okay I caved and watched it. lol It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but it was still not great. It made me wonder if they would ever make a show called "The Bachelorette". I don't think they would because I can't imagine them finding 25 guys willing to do this.
Also dh brought up an interesting point. If a girl was acting like "the bachelor" (ie flirting, kissing and sleeping with) a gaggle of men she would be called "a tramp", but since it is a guy the viewers think it is "ok". Dh doesn't think it is okay, he was pretty revolted but society definatly has a double standard for men and women.

Gabe and I both find it utterly stupid, but we both watched it again and laughed ourselves silly. *LOL*
I think it's between Trista and Rhonda, but who knows. It will probably be a real surprise. I know he picked 8 that I sure wasn't expecting him to pick.

I am thinking it will be Trista or Shannon (I think that's her name--the girl that Christy mentioned with the long dark hair that didn't think she'd be picked)
Rhonda looks weird to me--I think it's her mouth. I am glad that the other woman that was in his lap on the bus didn't get picked. She was certain she would be, and haha she didn't

I though the girl with redish hair who looked like Rene Russo would get picked for sure. She looked a bit disappointed too.
