What is the name of this book?! (please help me figure this out!)

Grrrrr......
I'm going nuts trying to remember the name of this book....
I read it before I was preggers with Katie - so it was mid 80s or so....
It was a horror/suspense style...
I have only read books of this genre by Stephen King/Peter Straub/Dean Koontz....(I think - with my luck it was probably written by someone else...)
I know it's not King on this one though - I've got all of his.....

All I remember was that a family (with a kid - a young boy) and a dog (??) was traveling to a small town where the kid's uncle had died recently...
New England maybe ... ???
The uncle owned or operated the "Nagy Seed Factory" that much I'm certain of (& even that doesn't pull anything on Google)....
The dad was supposed to be taking over operations or something....
Anyway - *something* either contacts the kid or possesses him or something - I get a little sketchy here.....

I remember loving this book, reading it cover to cover a few times, then torquing my mom & she tossed all of my books into the thrift store donation box & I've never found it again.....
I can't even remember what the cover was becuase we got it from my aunt (who shall remain nameless for protection

) while she was working for a bookstore - they had to rip the covers off & destroy the books - but - uh - well - *somehow* this book ended up with me!

Anyway - I want this book so badly now!
It's probably not going to be remotely close to as good as I remember it, but I'd love to be able to have it & make that call!!!!

I've read through the first several pages of tons of books at numerous libraries & just can't find it!!!!
I hope one of you knows what I'm talking about & those of you who don't can contact the proper authorities - my straight jacket size is ....

All i could find in my searches was a book with the title "the Lemming"

Happy hunting...although this is gonna drive me right into that jacket too, because now i wanna know...

It sounds so familiar to me too. It sounds like John Saul to me, have you read any of his works? If you like King and Koontz, you will like him too. I will keep looking and see if I can find anything that rings a bell.

I did a google for Nagy seed factory and I apologize but I just couldn't keep my eyes open long enough to go through the almost 2 million sites that came up. I asked book-nose dh and he didn't know. Good luck on your search.
