Martha Stewart
Here's the update on Martha Stewart's case. We will have to see what happens after her appeals. I wonder how this will affect her "empire". (show, etc)

I just read this online. Quite frankly I think she is getting off pretty easily.

One the one hand I feel pretty sorry for her. I think this media circus has been totally unnecessary. I feel she has been made an example of.
On the other hand I know that if it had been any Jane Doe off the street that had done this, they'd be locked up for quite some time.
I still like Martha And will continue to wathc what I can, read what I can, etc

I'm still sad for her. I like her stuff, her show and her magazine. She employed a lot of people, and I'm hoping that they won't be out of work now.
I don't care for her personally, she seems too hung up on perfect but it's her standard of excellence that draws me to her products, magazine and show. Not that I want to be "perfect" in that way but I appreciate the level of detail and care that goes into anything she does.
If I want to find out how to do a meringue, or buy a knife that sharpens easily or a good sheet or a bridal magazine with tons of really USEFUL stuff, not just a whack of expensive ads, or a homecare magazine with useful tips on how to iron a shirt more easily, it's Martha's stuff I want.
I think in some ways she was made an example of. Perhaps that is right, but I feel sorry for her personally, and for her staff.

ITA. I do think she was guilty, but I also think that the media circus and everything else that's happened was way out of proportion. This seems to me like a fair sentence.Originally posted by canadian gardener

I saw her in an interview a while back and she made a good point-- if she was going to really cheat on the stock market, she could have done it with a lot more $$. To her, that $50,000 was just a drop in the bucket.... so I don't know why she bothered with it. She's certainly paying for that now.

It will be interesting to see how the appeal goes. I think with the big Enron scandal going on at the same time as this she was destined to see jail time. I don't think there is anyway they could have ever let her off with probation with all the public awareness and anger over corparate greed and lawlessness.

A little funny for those that share my opinion. For those that don't...I'll apologize ahead of time because you'll not find it funny.

I want the FREE MARTHA on the tasteful "plaid" background. But if I had unlimited dollars in my wishing well, I'd wish for the SUPERSIZE collection:
"10 Beautiful Buttons in support of Martha Stewart. All with tasteful backgrounds and fonts...of course.
Includes 2 Plaid FREE MARTHA (give one to a fellow Martha supporter!) and one each of all other designs including Plaid, Faux, Doily/Crosstitch and Stripe."
