Now if only they would do it in the US.

I agree with you! I think its just plain disrespectful to have be yaking on the phone or even have the phone ring while in public places.

Wow, what a good idea. Although, I'm sure there will be a time when the phones are down at one of those establishments, someone has a heart attack or severe accident, and no one can call 911 because of the cell phone blockers.
But other than that, sounds like a great idea. Especially with camera phones... I think those should be reconsidered by manufacturers. A nice idea, sure. But definitely being abused by too many people.

When Joe was in the training program for his current job and also at all the meetings they go to, they tell you that the only ones that can have their cell phones on a ringtone (if they don't vibrate) are the guys whose wifes are 9 months pregnant, or if an immediate family member is in the middle of surgery that day.
Other than that they had to leave them off, in their vehicles or in their rooms.
The last time we went to the movies (eventhough they have signs up about not using cell phones) there was a woman in front of us yaking away. After about 10 min (when it was almost time to start the film) I went out front and complained and said that if they didn't do something by the time the movie started she would be wearing my drink.

Well, I for one think it is a BAD idea (not that I like having them ring in church or theaters)
We have an all volunteer rescue squad here. They take their cell phones with them where ever they go, and get the calls in church, at the theater, etc. They then run for the ambulance.
Also, I need to contact doctors who may be at church, at weddings, etc. I HAVE to be able to reach them.

I agree with Denise, DH has to keep his on him and turned on at all times! It's part of his job. I know it's hard to deal with because it is for us! but he does keep his on vibrate, doesn't really matter since it has radio capibilites, you still hear the darn thing.

Well I agree that they are annoying, but really is people would use them with common sense, alot of the annoying quality would go away.
I need to have mine turned on if I am away from home in case something comes up with one of my kids, so therefore I would NOT frequent any movie theater that jams the signal.
I instruct my kids of where I am going to be and IF it is EMERGENCY only contact, or if they can call and not worry about distrubing a meeting or whatnot.
I think common sense has gone out the window with these things.

I totally agree with Arlene.

My dh's employer asked him to carry his cellphone at church. He said, 'NO WAY".

Maybe I should make it clear that as far as Emergancy personel and people who are required to be avaliable 24/7 I don't have a problem with it and like Ellise said most of those people keep theirs on vibrate if that is an option or they have the ringer down low so it doesn't bother everyone around them.

It is very disrespectful and incosiderate for people to leave those things on in church. I heard one go off once in a wedding during the vows! You'd think people would think to turn them off.

I think people should just learn manners. Some people need to be able to be reached at all times.
