Default Anyone like saga style books

I really love historical books, but even more I love sagas.  I think it also relates to the fact that I love genealogy.  Right now I've just started reading "Charleston" by John Lakes.  I'm also slowly reading this book called "The Princes of Ireland".  Anyone else like sagas?  Have any good book suggestions?  Has anyone else read Charleston, and if so did you like it or not?  It's ok so far that I can tell.

I like the occasional saga book but not my all time favorite. I will see if we have it at the library tough.

Speaking of John Jakes he wrote a saga about 20 years ago. I can't remember what the series was called, but the first book was called The Bastards. It took you thru a whole lot of American History thru one family. One of the best things i ever read.

Thanks pbq52....I'll have to look into that. I agree matt&roxy, I usually don't have time to read at all, but when I get started I'll be in the middle of several different books at one time...LOL

pqb52 Was it The Kent Chronicles? I seem to remember The Bastard being part og that series. I may be wrong however.

I began reading the series but then my oldest son was born and I put it down and never finished it. I think I'll go check it out at the library.

Oh Clan of the Cave Bear was AWESOME! I loved the book way better than the movie.

The only "saga" I read was Lord of the Rings. Definitely worth it, if you're into that sort of stuff.

I went to the library today to see if we had The Bastards, but we didn't. So the librarian is going to borrow it from another library for me.....Can't wait 'til it comes in

The author of "Clan of the Cave Bear" is Jean Auel. There are 5 books completed in this series which is called the Earth's Children series and 2 more books are expected.
