Thumbs down Horrible Storm last night

Any other east coasters suffer through the terrible storms yesterday or last night?

I'd have to say the one that hit about midnight was one of the worst storms I've seen in a long time without it being a tornado or from hurricane winds. The rain seemed to be coming down in sheets and the lightning and thunder were incredible. The shed, boat dock and gazebo all have tin roofs and with the rain beating on them last night, I could barely hear myself think. The lightning lit the sky up to the point that when I first woke up from the sound, I actually thought it was morning. It felt like the house was shaking and since we live in the woods, I just knew that at any minute a tree was going to come crashing through.

We keep the dogs in the basement by the wood stove at night and use a baby gate to block the doorway. Most of the time, they will just stay on their bed even if the gate is not up. Last night, I heard them running up the stairs and the next thing you know they were both in my bed. They were in a huge panic. I honestly thought Cloe was going to die from being so scared. I had to give her dramamine to try and calm her down and then held them both for 2 hours until they finally fell asleep - in my bed of course.

Needless to say, Mel didn't hear anything. Luckily I saw no trees down or any actual damage from the storm when I left this morning. Whatever happened to nice, sunny days........

I was awakened yesterday morning, by a similar storm. It was the most intense storm we've had in a while. Like you said, the house was shaking, the sky was bright with lightening and the loud thunder was enough to wake the dead! It even woke my 17 yo dson and he usually sleeps through anything!lol We had a flash flood, too. Some of the bridges are still out from the flood we had this past September. Thankfully, this flood wasn't nearly as bad.

The same storms rolled through here earlier and the thunder didn't seem to stop. That was some of the loudest and longest rolls of thunder I have ever heard.

It started here yesterday morning, dad and I drove 2 1/2 hours to my Dr. appointment in it. We have thunder, lightning, terrible rain the whole deal! It lasted all night and is supposed to go on and off through tomorrow!

I don't live anywhere near the coast but we've been in a thunderstorm watch this week....that's totally unheard of for the month of December. Glad you had no major damage Pat, Dixie and Angie.....whew!
