Default The Beauty of Extreme Home Makeover

Okay, first of all, let me say that I am totally biased because I absolutely love this show.

Now, the reason I think this show is so wonderful is not just because it does such wonderful things for these families. It's also not just because I love to watch the house come together. It's not just the thrill of the before and after photos and the joy on the families faces when they go see their new home for the first time.

It's because every single week, at around 8:30, I start thinking, "Man, I wish Ty would come and give me a home makeover!" And then they recap why they are there with that particular family and it makes me count my blessings and feel so lucky that I don't need the home makeover. I think that is the beauty of this show...helping the rest of us whose homes haven't burned down, whose children aren't gravely ill, who haven't lost a loved one, etc. remember how blessed we are and hopefully, help us to appreciate it more.

I agree 100% Amy. I say the exact same thing, I wish Ty would come here and makeover this house, but I'm lucky I have a place to live, I know there's people out there really need these makeovers and I think the show is wonderful for doing that.

Amy, thank you so much for helping me to put it in to proper perspective. I watched tonight's show and to be honest, I was jealous of their beautiful, new home. I hadn't thought of how much I have, but what I don't have.

I, too, love the show, although I end up crying every week. It's the stories behind the new houses that really touch me-- the girls at work got me to watching it because when I'm at work, two days after the show (I work Tues & Thurs) they're still talking about the family from Sunday night's show. It really does make you count your blessings, doesn't it?

Well said Amy, tonight my oldest dd said that Ty has such a wonderful job to be able to give to these families that need it so much. I am so glad that she sees the giving. I am crying again now remembering tonights show and how truly lucky we are.

It never occurred to me to think of it that way. Thank you so much for putting it all in perspective!

We love that show. I always end up crying, too.

Thanks for putting things in perspective. Our house is very small, so it's easy to be jealous, but compared to what these families have gone through, I'm fortunate.

I agree Amy. My husband and I have talked about this very same thing and how blessed we are to have a home and a healthy family.

My family knows that Sunday night is my laughing/crying night, and they just leave me to it. I laugh hysterically over AFV, then sob through Extreme Makeover Home Edition. I always feel blessed afterwards, not jealous.

    Amen!

I think these are really Angels helping out those that are in so much need of the help they are getting.

Love the program and what it stands for.

I really like that program. I do wish someone would come and do my place for me (add a room, decorate, etc) But I am very thankful that I don't NEED THEM. Last nites show (the ladies with the house fire) really choked me up more than usual.

I truly love the Extreme Makeover Home. I every time I see it. They are doing such a wonderful thing for the families who have so little or lost every thing. I would love to just be able to help them on the sites even if it is just making coffee or doing errands. Anything.
