This month our book club book selection will be Live Well on Less Than You Think The New York Times Guide to Achieving Your Financial Freedom by Fred Brock
Fred Brock will be joining us as a guest for chat toward the end of February. I'll post the date once I have it finalized. I'm looking forward to reading his book and meeting him.
Deadline for the book to be read will be February 24th. I will post the discussion questions that week.
I think this book will have a lot to discuss.
Here's his bio:
Fred Brock, a former business editor and current contributor to The New York Times, is the author of Retire on Less Than You Think (0-8050-7374-4) and is the R. M. Seaton Professor of Professional Journalism at Kansas State University. He has also been an editor and reporter covering politics, business, and finance for The Wall Street Journal, the Houston Chronicle, and the Louisville Courier-Journal. He lives in Manhattan, Kansas.
My library system doesn't have this one yet (I suppose because it's so new) so, unfortunately, I'm out. I look forward to reading all the discussion threads though.
Unfortunately, it's too new for my library or my half-price bookstore to have. I was checking half.com, ebay, and amazon, and with shipping it's just below the list price of $15, so I'm pry just going to get it from the bookstore. Often times they have 20% off new books, so maybe I'll get lucky and that'll be the case, then it would be cheaper than those book sites!
My library doesn't have it yet either. I just tried Amazon.ca and it will only ship in 2-4 weeks so I will have to try our local book store to see if it is in stock.
Ladies,
If your library has an interlibrary loan service, they should be able to get it for you. Also, you can request that your library buy the book (that is what I am going to do and since I am the librarian of our branch they should do it ). I think this would be a wonderful book to add to any library's collection!
Debbie, I searched the database for the whole city of Ottawa and they didn't have any books by Fred Brock I never thought to request that they buy it. Of course since the city is so big I don't know when they would get to it. Still it would eventually help out somebody else.

I'll call my library on Monday and see if I can get it. If not I'll check on prices in the city when I go next week. I think it's safe to say you can count me in Sara.
I was suprised my library did not have this. Especially since it is a Kansas author. The did have his other book, How to Retire on Less than You Think. I vowed not to buy any new books this year. (Used are still OK ) Trying to cut our budget.
My library system finally got one copy of this and I just put it on hold! Hopefully there are no other holds before me and it will come in to the branch I use by this Friday when I'm there.
Yippee! It was waiting for me at the library today!!! :yippee: I am glad to see it's not a huge/thick book (LOL) - I should be able to read it pretty quickly.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
