blue grass music

I just watched a documentary on blue grass music. It's one of my favourite kinds of music but I'd never seen the people who started it or knew about how it developed.

The program featured Bill Munroe and his Blue Grass Boys (alhough most of them were way past being a boy), the Louvin brothers, Ralph Stanley, Earl Scruggs and Lester Flatt, the very early Carter family. That music just stops me in my tracks. They also brought it up to the present with alison krauss and emmy-lou harris and ricky scaggs and they did a bit on O Brother Where Art Thou?, a fabulous movie.

Is anyone else a blue grass fan?

I like bluegrass but I can't say it's my favourite. Anyway dh banned it in the house cause he can't stand (maybe now that he's learning to play harmonica he will catch on )
