Has anyone read the Elm Creek novels?
These are about quilters with a touch of history added too. I read the first one in the series called "The Quilter's Apprentice". It's very light, easy reading and less than 300 pages. I read it in a week (and would have finished it even sooner except that I've been busy with other stuff).
There are a few more books in the series, and they also have a website with quilt patterns from the other books and info. about the author:
