    Default Weather report from SoCal............

This is my first post......this seems as good a place to start as any!

Southern California (I am in the San Fernando Valley area of "Lost" Angeles) is in the grip of what may turn out to be it's rainiest year EVER. We have hit about 34" of precipitation since the season began in July, which is already twice normal?? the record is 38" or so, and we have weeks to go in which we can expect rain. ARGGHHHHH! For those who are unfamiliar, we normally are sunny and cool in the winter as opposed to sunny and hotter than blazes in the summer. Folks are heading up to Seattle this weekend for a reprieve and a little sunshine (no joking). The Pacific NW is having trouble with a severe lack of clouds and rain.

Sadly, a number of people have died as a result of the storms. And we have lost the Amtrak tracks again, a small airport has lost its runway into a river, and 40' deep sinkholes are swallowing up city engineers along with cars and pavement. Homes are falling down hillsides by the dozens. Sigh.

We needed the moisture desperately but this is just plain ridiculous................I can't get any gardening done................everyone's roofs are leaking.............just a mess.

    I had to vent, sorry if it's a gripe.............LOL.

Don't blame you for venting. It's just too much.
I've been watching on the news and my heart goes out to those who have suffered because of this maddening rain.
Hope the sun starts shining for all of you soon.

I've been following the news and my heart just aches for all of you down in the areas hit with flooding, landslides, sinkholes and leaking roofs. My uncle lives on a steep hill in Woodland Hills and I am praying for his safety!

Same deal here in San Diego - rain, rain and more rain. My grass is knee high in the back yard because it doesn't stop raining long enough to let it dry a little and mow it!

Hopefully soon we will have relief. At least our reservoirs are looking good for water supply this year, so at least one positive in the midst of all the sadness.

Hmsclmom, I am in the Encino-Tarzana-Woodland Hills neighborhood, and I betcha your uncle lives up in what we call "Spaghetti Hills" with its narrow winding streets and closely packed homes on steep hills. There was a fatality up there 2 days ago, mud came down and filled a house.

The bad news today is I checked my rain gauge and there were 5 more inches from the past 3 days, bringing my backyard total to 14 inches in the past 12 days. This is now officially the third-rainiest year in LA history, and more is coming on Sunday they say. SIGH.

The very good news however is that THE SUN IS SHINING RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We haven't seen much of it since mid-December. If I go out in it today it just might help lift this dreariness I feel in my bones.

Howdy to a fellow Southern California Gal, I feel your pain, I live in Pasadena and have been rained in for what seems like way too long! I am a substitute teacher in Azusa and let me tell you the kids have cabin fever like nobody's business!

    My roof is now leaking!
My sunroof in my Jetta is leaking!
I used to love the rain, but his is just too much, people are losing thei homes ad livelihoods because of all the accidents. There are 100's of rain related accidents everyday...we have had enough now, thanks.

    BTW...nice tomeet you neighbor!

hi kestrel. wow, I love rain but not that much.

I live in Australia on the edge of a rainforest so we get a lot of rain too. I think our average is around a metre a year (40 inches). I hope you have a lovely weekend in the sun and I look forward to reading your posts in the future.
