I really do live in the stix
I just wanted to share a clipping from this week's paper. It's an ad for the American Legion fundraising dinner. This looks like it could have come from the Beverly Hillbillies.

Yes it's for real-- it's from our local paper this week. I'll try to scan more of the page for you.
It's pretty common around here, but I knew some of you would find it "different".

lol, does it taste like chicken?? Or is it more um...game-y? Are these free-range coons or caged... how does one herd them? Are there coon farmers? I know there are chicken farmers...Soooooo many questions.

Thanks, Sunshine, I just thought maybe it was someone's idea of a joke. I know a few people here where I live hunt and eat Raccoons. I've never had the um, pleasure.

Oh! I am sorry! I thought too, like Dixie, that this was a joke! I wasn't aware that raccoons were eaten. Now I know.

No apology needed! I've heard some things that people eat, that I never would have thought were actually food too.Originally posted by Missy

Hmmmm . . . what does coon taste like? Rather gamey. . . and it's greasy if not cooked right. Most boil it first then smother the taste in BBQ sauce or other spicy marinade. It's not on my list of preferred foods.
If we catch a raccoon, I feed it to the dog.
