Timing is everything...

I live on a town that has a cooperative school district with the next town over. We are being asked to vote for more levies and there is an informational meeting tonight. Some people were saying that they were curious to see what their taxes would be before they made up their minds on the levies. Well guess what arrived in the mail today????? Yep, our property tax statements and everyone's taxes went up. Lots of griping going on at the old post office today. I don't think the levies have much of a chance on passing now since the dreaded green envelopes arrived with such "good news" today. The other thing is that we have to have 60 % of the voting population that voted in the last general election to even ratify the election. Good luck on getting that since we had the highest turn out ever for the last election. I have the election board meeting at the library and they are all worried. Timing is everything right????

Yes, it is. Its too bad the school board or planning committee didn't take the timing into consideration.

Our district has tried unsuccesfully for several years to get a new levy to build a middle school -- but it keeps being voted down. And our schools and kids are very crowded. They will probably put the 9th graders into modular buildings in 2005/2006 to free up space in the Jr High for the big influx of 6th going into 7th graders coming up.
