Fargo (the movie)
I had heard so much about this movie, that when it came on last night at 2am, I decided to watch it.
I have to say, I have never seen such an awful movie that was rated 3½ stars! They made out (producers or directors) like the people in ND and MN are idiots!
I have to give this movie a resounding
3 thumbs

I live in MN, and I think that movie is hilarious!!! It is dark, but after you watch it a few times, you start to see the little quirky things that make it entertaining. No, I didn't like the movie the first time I saw it and, No, we are not really like that in MN.
But, I guess that I like movies that are just a little bit off!

Guess I just didn't 'get it' then. I thought it was very condesending and rude to the people of ND and MN.
The story line was good, I just didn't like how the principals were portrayed. Especially considering this was supposed to be based on a true story.~~ Dee ~~

There are some "thick accents" here in MN, but they made them quite a bit thicker in the movie!

I liked 'Fargo'. But I do like some strange movies. For our first date, DH and I went to see the movie "Clerks". Probably not too many people ever even saw that movie. I loved it, too. I enjoyed "Pulp Fiction" also.

I didn't "get it" either DeeDee.
I also hated Raising Arizona...I had always heard it was a great movie, so I got it off of Netflix, and couldn't even finish watching it. Another movie I just didn't "get" Oh well...there are lots of movies out there...I am sure I will never get all of them watched!! LOL Then there are always the crime shows too!!! I will never get all of them watched either

what a GREAT movie...
the chipper shredder part is simply AWESOME!!!
The car-ride leading to it was pretty hilarious too!
It's meant as a black comedy (not skin colour - type of comedy that's not seen around as often anymore... think quentin taratino-esque w/Pulp Fiction & Resevoir Dogs).
Anyway...
that's me.

Now, we loved "Raising Arizona", too. It was made by the Cohen (not sure if I spelled their names right.
) Brothers, who also made "Fargo" and "Oh Brother Where Art Thou". They are from MN, and they definately have a weird sense of humor. I haven't seen "Pulp Fiction" yet, but I've been wanting to.

"Clerks" was made by Kevin Smith of "Jay and Silent Bob" fame.
Amazon.com
Before Kevin Smith became a Hollywood darling with Chasing Amy, a film he wrote and directed, he made this $27,000 comedy about real-life experiences working for chump change at a New Jersey convenience store. A rude, foul-mouthed collection of anecdotes about the responsibilities that go with being on the wrong side of the till, the film is also a relationship story that takes some hilarious turns once the lovers start revealing their sexual histories to one another. In the best tradition of first-time, ultra-low budget independent films, Smith uses Clerks as an audition piece, demonstrating that he not only can handle two-character comedy but also has an eye for action--as proven in a smoothly handled rooftop hockey scene. Smith himself appears as a silent figure who hangs out on the fringes of the store's property. --Tom Keogh --This text refers to the VHS Tape edition.
