Default Live Well on Less Than You Think discussion

What did folks think about this book?

    What was your favorite section?

Is it a book you'll keep or pass on?

Did it prompt you to do more research for your own personal money management?

Did it teach you anything new?

What things did you find it lacking or hoped or anticipated you'd see more about?

Did you feel it held pertinent information that applied to you at your current age/stage?

Hey I'll jump in b/c I just finished it today.

I liked the book, I will pass it on in fact dh said he wants to read it and I'll probably pass it along to my grown dkids as well. But I have to say.....I think you offer most of the info. here already.....I hope it's ok to say that.

It didn't prompt me to do more research b/c I had already done it and we are already doing most of what he recommended that I found useful anyway. For instance paying down debt. That was my fav. section too b/c it's the way that we have made the biggest difference in our budget. I did feel like it had pertinent info on my current age/stage but I had already been hungry for the info and had found most of it in other places.

Overall I thought it was well written and since I like this type of book for motivational purposes I'm glad that I read it.

~48 yr. old sahw, livin' it up in our empty nest, smack dab in the middle of everywhere.~

I've already returned mine to the library so I don't have it for reference (wish I still did now!).

The one new thing for me was the great explanation of the generations. Dh is a baby boomer and I'm a gen x'er. Now I understand why we knock heads so much and why he just doesn't 'get it.'

I did disagree with the section that listed areas, housing prices, wages, etc. My area was on the list and housing is nowhere near as cheap as the list implied. Of course I realize that was from a source other than Mr. Brock. It just prompts me to really do in-depth research on my own, should we move, and not necessarily take a list like that as hard cold fact.

I agree with Lisa that it's a good motivational book.

I must have missed this entirely! Who wrote this book? I would still like to read it if I can get it from the library.

What did folks think about this book? I think it was overall a good book and certainly gave you plenty to think on.

What was your favorite section? I liked the part early on where the couples were talking about their alternative ways of living to save money.

Is it a book you'll keep or pass on? I will keep it but would certainly let someone borrow it or would offer it to someone who I felt might be interested.

Did it prompt you to do more research for your own personal money management? Not at the moment but maybe a bit later on when I have a chance.

Did it teach you anything new? Yes - don't move up north LOL I think it did give me lots of links to places that I can pursue further information on.

What things did you find it lacking or hoped or anticipated you'd see more about? I thought it would have had a bit more practical/daily ways to save as well.

Did you feel it held pertinent information that applied to you at your current age/stage? I know it should be applying to me as I don't have any retirement set up at all. Just another reminder that I need to get something going to prepare for my Older Age.

A lot of this book just flew over my head. I guess because I'm so young, the whole generation talk didn't really matter to me at all. I didn't care. I just wanted to see what I could do. I didn't really care for this book, so I will be passing it on to my library for others who may enjoy it. It didn't really teach me much, and what it did have to offer I mostly already knew.
