    I went to college in Ft Collins (CSU) so I know firsthand how these late-season dumpers can be in CO. In May of 1978 we had a May dumper that dropped 48" (yes, that's 48") of heavy, wet stuff on us in about 24 hours. It wasn't 48" deep on the ground since it packed down as it fell, but it truly was 48" if you measured as it fell! Then the very next day the chinooks blew in and it ALL melted and flooded everything. I was at a party the night of the storm and we all had to stay there and camp out on the host's floor since nobody could get their cars out of the drifts.
