Default Which book has helped you the most?

I love to read and have all three of TWG books and other assorted books giving hints and tips etc.

I know some of you like to approach things from different angles so my question is this, in wanting to save money and time and be organised, what book(s) have you read that have helped the most?

Also do you prefer that the books you read in this genre to be based on the personal side " ie. I am the author and this is how I do X/Y/Z to achieve my aims") OR, do you prefer your books to just tell you what to do?!

Whilst not strictly a book on frugality I have found Don Aslett to be a HUGE help and re-read it when I feel the urge to hang on to something I should really get rid of!

Also, because of his clutter busting Ideas, I now question why I want a particular thing and is it worth buying it and/or bringing it into my home?

    Your best books then.............thoughts?

Three books that helped me in my frugality and simple living were and still remain the top 3 books.

~The Simple Living Guide by Janet Luhrs - it taught me how to live in the moment, how to decluttering and how to be content.

~Frugal Luxuries by Tracy McBride - taught me how to live frugality but with luxury. Sometimes very hard to do.

~The busy Mom's Guide to Simple Living by Jackie Wellwood - gave me a new perspective on being a busy mom and how to live simply and healthy. This one showed me how a large family on once income could survive and do it well.

It doesn't matter what genre its in as long as there are some life stories and experiences from others besides the author.

I've read numerous books on frugality and simple living, These 3 remain the best ones for me.

I like reading books when the author is writing what they or others have achieved and also what hasn't worked for them.

The books I have in my library that have helped:

*The Simple Living Guide by Janet Luhrs

*Your Money or Your Life by Dominquez and Robin

*The Complete TWG by Amy D.

I also have one book by Howard Dayton "Your Money Counts" that is a biblical guide to earning, spending, saving, investing, giving and getting out of debt.

I like Jonni McCoy's (Miserly Moms I think one is called?) books and TWG. I check them out from the library every once in a while to refresh.

I have to check out the others listed here, because I've been looking for other to read.

Organization - I personally really like Mrs. Cleanjeans' Housekeeping with Kids. It's not a book that only people with children at home would find useful though - lots of great tips for organization throughout your entire house.

Right now I'm reading through Haley's Hints by Graham Haley and very much enjoying all the neat tips listed.

The two that I re-read over and over again give me ideas, rather than specifc advice (for the most part).

The Millionaire Next Door - by Thomas J. Stanley, William D. Danko
    City Chic - Nina Willdorf

The Millionaire Next Door taught me the importance of living life below the radar (why spend a lot of money and show off? Save it, and live a simpler lifestyle)
City Chic didn't make me feel bad about going through trash for finds, picking up furniture off of the street, eating rice and beans for dinner, and nursing one drink for several hours at a bar.

I generally prefer books that give ideas, rather than specific advice. I don't have children, pets or an attic (for example), and I find advice on those topics to be irrelevant (for now anyway). I would rather the advice be along the lines of: if you have other mouths to feed, do this. Or if you have spare room, do that.

My favorites are all of the TWGs, and Mary Hunt's "Debt- Proof Living".
