The article said they lived in a 'council house' . Does anyone know what that means? Just curious

a council house is reduced rent housing.

    I'm 57 and I'm not a granny yet. Maybe I'm a slow learner.

I hope everything works out OK for them. Sounds like they could use some good thoughts.

12 is a bit young even for around here!

We have seen a HUGE surge in teenage Mothers here and I am talking YOUNG teenage

You see young girls pushing prams and you think( hope!) it is their kid sister/brother, until you hear it shouting "Mummy"!

They don't see it as a problem more a "badge of honour" and some even do it to get their own Council House

(Council Housing is run by the Local Authority and cheaper than private rented accomodation by about 40% but is now under severe pressure due to sheer numbers of these kids wanting houses and the influx of Asylum seekers.)

A phenomenon I have noticed ( and seen in action over the years) is that the younger the woman gives birth, the younger HER children will have kids, (within a certain social group)I have seen this so very many times dh and I think it may be genetic

I would bet you dollars to donuts that the child of the 12 year old will be a parent itself within a 5 year margin of the age of his/her Mum.

It is very sad and Britain does have the highest incidence of teenage pregnancies in Europe

I think it's time for us to learn from our European neighbours who have had a lot more success in reducing their numbers.

It is the kids of the kids I feel for

The mother had her at 14, daughter "beat" her time by 2 years. Babies having babies is very sad indeed.
