"The LifeGem® is a certified, high-quality diamond created from the carbon of your loved one as a memorial to their unique life."

Wow....that's a very unique idea. Not sure how I feel about it...

I read about this in Plenty magazine a long time ago.

At the time, I thought it was ridiculous. Then I was watching Family Plots, and the mortuary owner had his son's ashes made into a diamond ring for himself, and earrings for his daugter and ex-wife. Now I'm just not sure how I feel about it.

In that same article in Plenty magazine, they also mentioned that you could have your DNA grafted somehow into a tree. Gone are the days of burying or cremation alone!

I really think that my MIL would do this, if she had the money.. She has not been able to take his wedding band off since the day he died.. She doesn't know if she ever will.... This could be an alternative...

I'm pretty much against cremation, anyway and this adds a significant creepy factor, imo. Besides, I wouldn't want my dh giving a ring of "me" to his next wife, lol.

I actually really, really think this idea is cool. I had heard about it a while back. I also heard about a place in the Florida Keys, I believe, that will take the ashes of your loved one and mix them into concrete to be sunken into an artifical wreath!
