Britney Spears has baby boy
Okay.....did anyone else just shake their head at this one??? Not the fact that she had a baby - I pray mom and baby are doing well and everyone is healthy. But the fact she needed a police escort and chose a c-section vs. natural to avoid pain? Are you kidding me?????? Usually I don't believe all I read but I can't help to believe this one.
I also heard on Fox news this morning she named him Preston Michael Spears (PMS)!!!!

I had heard that about her c-section. I am amazed that the doctor allowed her to do that--maybe because of who she is? Won't she be in for a big surprise when she has the c-section "pooch". No more flat stomach for her!
*eta: the baby isn't taking her dh's name?

I'm glad mom & baby are healthy, but I don't get this trend with choosing a c-section. I read an article in a women's magazine not too long ago all about the pros and cons of choosing a c-section over natural birth... I was amazed that so many women now choose c-sections intentionally.
I had one, but mine was not by choice- it was an emergency to save DD.
On the positive side, maybe Britney will have to wear more clothes onstage now to hide her scar/ belly.

I didn't even know you could choose it as an option. I certainly wouldn't want to. From what I've heard from others, it's more painful.

I agree with others about this disturbing trend towards c-sections by choice. I did a research paper for my Bradley birthing class on c-sections and painkillers. There is just a lot that people don't seem to get about it.
One of the Berman sisters (of Berman and Berman, the two docs who help women with sexual/sexuality problems) had her first child by regular delivery, and scheduled a c-section with her second one because she thought it would be easier and more convenient. I was very disappointed to learn this. However, she showed up on "Birth Day Live" after she had it, and said it was a huge mistake and she was sorry she had done it- it was MUCH worse than vaginal delivery.
Another sad thing is that a lot of people don't understand that having an epidural leads you to a much higher chance of having a c-section.
I firmly believe everyone should have a baby the way that is right for them, but I also think that they should do their research and understand exactly what they are getting themselves into.
Okay, stepping off my soapbox now.

As someone who has had children by both vaginal delivery and by c-section (scheduled due to position of baby, not for convenience
), I can definately say that the silly girl made the wrong decision if she thought it would be less painful
. The recovery time from a c-section is much longer and more painful and I really don't see her as having a high pain tolerance. It is kind of poetic justice for someone who would go through a major surgery for the sake of less pain.

Well, I have been hearing that she chose the C-section because of a STD (warts). That she couldn't have the baby vaginally because of them. Don't know how true any of that is . . .

I had a friend that had a C-Section, not by choice, and she said it was great! She said the recovery wasn't bad at all, hardly any scar, just a little by the bikini line. She said she plans on having her next baby the same way.

If you take a look at Star Magazine online, Britney also had a POLICE ESCORT, 8 body guards, and basically took over 1/2 the maternity wing. I swear, I really, really, hope she has to pay for that police escort. My gosh, it's not like she was delivering the President Spears, 2056!

I heard on ABC News that she wanted to name the baby London since that's where she met Kevin Federline but decided to name him Preston Michael Federline Spears 6 lb, 11 oz bundle of joy by Caesarean section at a hospital in Santa Monica, California. No other details were available. They didn't say anything else then I checked the 7online.com website & it says No other details were available.

Just my
here on the C-section thing. Julia was an emergency c-section. Patrick was by choice, as is the baby that's coming in February. My recovery was a piece of cake both times and the scar is nothing anyone can see.
As for Britney...whatever...that's really all I can ever say about her...whatever.My Blog: http://amysreallife.wordpress.com

I hope she and baby are doing well. Congrats to her!
(maybe she wont be so self absorbed now lol)
On the csection...My last was a csection, and not by choice. I cried for 2 months. She was breech from the get go,so I knew unless she moved,I would be having a csection.
Anyways--I'd rather deliver 3 more babies vaginal than one more csection. It was painful! I dont deal well with pain anyway, but it took longer for me to recover, and I bled longer.I was just miserable! (am I pitiful or what LOL)
The only good thing is,my scar is not that noticeable

I agree, c-section scars aren't that noticeable. Far below the hair line, and since I wouldn't be caught dead in a bikini, no one will EVER see mine.
With our luck, she'll have a fabulous plastic surgeon to help remove the "pouch" and fix her up right and tight.
