Wow, I am impressed with what he is trying to do, but how can he stand to be away from his kids for so long?
"I will probably see my wife and kids only once or twice during this time."
"I am not in the best condition financially to go six months without income and have resigned myself to the fact that I will lose my car and property."
I agree with what he's trying to do, I just don't know if I could put all of that on my family. He sure does have a supportive wife.

I agree with Michele.
I first read about him a couple of months ago. The newspaper article I read said he had lost 50 lbs, then. I wonder how much he's lost since?

He's also turning down moneymaking opportunities which is sorta a shame considering his family is at home losing everything.
I did understand how he didn't want to commercialize it, but if his family is losing their home...I'd take some money if it was offered.
It doesn't make his journey any less of one. So he didn't set out to make money from it...if it's offered don't be silly and turn it down.If you'd like to help support Frugal Living by Sara Noel, my syndicated column, e-mail, write, or call the managing editor at your local newspaper and ask them to publish it in print or online.
