Yes, he's still married to his high school sweetheart. I think the show said that they've been married for 16? or 19? years?

ITA He and the band gave Oprah $1 million for her Angels Network.

And how cool is it that everyone in Oprah's audience got tickets to Bon Jovi's show?

I love feel good shows like this

Quiltermom, did you ever see them in concert? I saw them back in 1989 at Great Woods in Mass. They put on such a great show!

I've seen them so many times in multiple cities that I've lost count.

    The two don't quite mix.

I didn't start out with that username on here. I did have something more 'hip'. Without explaining why, I felt a need to change and for lack of being able to come up with a 'catchier' username I chose something that is a hobby of mine and something that I am very proud of being. I'm 36 so I'm far from matronly or being in a rocking chair. LOL

Hot For Teacher was definitely Van Halen like Michelle already said.

Not only did he give one million dollars to Oprah's angel network and tickets to everyone in the audience, he is also building 4 Habitat for Humanity homes. It shows what the man is made of. We might say, well he's rich, he can do that. We can all learn from him, what one person can do. It doesn't matter the amount, its what is in the heart. I think it's awesome that he has decided to give to live.

Yes he has been married for 16 years and has 4 kids.

And also to his credit--just because he's wealthy doesn't mean he *has* to spend his money on helping people, kwim? It's his money to do with what he wishes. It's just a wonderful thing that he chose to give it back to the community.

Did you see how excited those kids were when they all got backpacks full of supplies? It looked like Christmas there they were so excited. Got me all weepy.

Michelle I agree. It was wonderful to see those kids. It looks like he sponsors that school with funding and things for those kids. It was just so neat to see those little ones excited over backpacks. Most kids just take them for granted, kwim.

Oh yeah. I cried through all of that. I've known he was very into giving from various reports I've seen over the years, but it was so nice to really see it in some detail and not just be told a little snippet by some reporter.

Who could resist those bright blue twinkly eyes I'm a Bon Jovi fan forever. I grew up listening to his music. Never got to go to a concert yet! DH likes his music too so maybe I'll get that chance to see him in concert.

All those lucky people on OPRAH going to the concert. I watched him on QVC in concert awhile back. (not the same as being there)

While watching MSNBC last night watching the jetBLUE airbus trying to burn up fuel so they could land since the landing gear front wheel was jammed since take-off. Then they were talking about another plane who had problems losing an engine awhile ago (not sure if this was his plane they were talking about)...but I remember Bon Jovi was on an airplane who lost there engine too! It's strange how I remember things & thinking about it the same day he was on O!

This pic of him I found online it was in Crush Magazine

Post Bon Jovi performs on the plaza in NY Fri. 9/23

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3032633/?ta=y

    COMING UP ON TODAY

    FRIDAY, SEPT. 23
7:00 a.m. ET Bon Jovi performs live on the plaza on "Toyota Concert Series on Today." Hal Rubenstein talks about the accessory report on "In Style Today."

Bon Jovi will be on tv tomorrow morning "it's a good thing I wake-up @ 4:45 AM) so by 7 AM I'm totally awake & cooking Ma's breakfast by 8 AM.

I'm watching "PASSIONS" now & just saw the commercial for Bon Jovi & heard him singing "HAVE A NICE DAY" I gotta get the cd soon maybe my next TARGET trip if they have it.

Here's another link & there's a pic of his wife Dorothea too w/him.

    http://www.arts.telegraph.co.uk/arts...ixartleft.html

Instead of producing a video for his forthcoming single, Who Says You Can't Go Home, Bon Jovi is donating the cash that he would have spent to housing charity, Habitat for Humanity.

"That money is going to house four families," he says. "I'll be writing a cheque for a good portion of it personally and that's fine. It makes you feel good and you're doing it for the right reasons.

"I think volunteerism should be fashionable. That's my goal. To make volunteering the new black," he says. "Angelina Jolie is seemingly doing an incredible job at philanthropy. I think she's found her niche, just like I feel I've found mine. She's a great ambassador."
