We had a similar report on our TV news. It said we should plan our lives around high petrol prices, IF they come down, it won't be until next year and it won't be by much.

Youch, we're already pretty much walking/biking everywhere. That saves us from paying the high gas prices now. Not sure what we'll do this winter when it's too cold to do that. Grrr

Gas here came down quite a bit and we're cool with it, but if it goes up again, I hope it doesn't go up much more than it did 2-3 weeks ago. That was a bit much.

Now, it's $2.74. Not bad, in my book--not that I don't hate it! But $5 dollars a gallon... not good. We'll be filling up our cars tonight. I hope these hurricanes slow down a bit. The people down south really don't need another catastrophe right now and people everywhere don't need the gas to keep skyrocketting every couple weeks.

We are being told to expect high gas prices and not to ever expect the gas prices to go down to where they were before.

It means changing our lifestyles completely.

the pattern we see here is the price goes skyrocketing up to new levels and everyone squawks.

Then they go down, but always quite a bit more than the starting point.

It's also a marketing strategy to keep the customer grateful for small mercies instead of flat out angry at the price hikes.

Sort of softens people up by shocking them with a huge increase, then dropping it a little after a bit.
