Default Who Are Your Favorite Authors?

I'm looking to start reading again after a long hiatus. Can anyone recommend some new books or authors to me. I have really enjoyed books by Belva Plain, Ann Rice, Nora Roberts, Sidney Sheldon and Adriana Trigiani. I prefer books set in modern times but if the book is exceptional I will read books set in any era.

Stephen King is my favoite author. I've read a few Anne Rice novels and they were pretty good.

I love PG Wodehouse. All of his are set in the twenties, but are sidesplittingly funny. Human comedy stuff. Light fluffy humour. Really good writing.

Dorothy Sayers (really fine murder mystery)

Anything by Josephine Tey, or Georgette Heyer esp GH's murder mysteries.

Margery Sharp but many of hers are so long out of print they are hard to find along with Ann Bridge's books but they are well worth reading when and if you find them.

Ken Follett is my favorite, hands down.

I also love Dorothy Sayers, Margery. I love Agatha Christie and most other "early" British mystery novelists.

A new favorite is Jasper Fforde. His books are hrd to describe, but my guess is that they fall in the fantasy genre, but they remind me of Douglas Adams meets the book world. He has four books about his Thusday next character. www.thursdaynext.com

I like Kathy Reichs, Patricia Cornwell's early stuff, Jane Austen, Mary Higgins Clark, Zora Neale Hurston, Ed McBain...I could go on and on forever about authors I love! Oh, and JK Rowling and TS Elliot and tons of othe for fiction.

I have read all of Danielle Steel and Mary Higgins Clarks books. I also like Nora Roberts, Barbara Delinsky, and Laveryle(sp) Spencer.l They are all light reads and not mushy gushy romantics. I like Danielle Steel and Mary Higgins Clarks older books the best.

I've read a couple of those too, and they are very entertaining.

My favorite authors are Elizabeth Berg, Maeve Binchy, and Beverly Lewis.

I could have written this- minus Danielle Steel , I don't care much for her books.

I also like Sandra Brown and of course I LOVE Max Lucado.

    Laurie King
    Stuart Kaminsky
    John Steinbeck

    Laura Ingalls Wilder

    There a more, but I can't think of any right now--it's almost 1 a.m.!
