I would love to have a woodstove. Doubt I'll get one inside but I might push for one outside.

We always had a woodstove growing up. As a child, I thought everyone had woodstoves
Our woodstove is actually a Buck fireplace insert that has been converted to a woodstove. So we get the lovely view of the fire and the all around heat that a fireplace just can't do.

We do have two coal burning fireplaces, but I can't talk dh into using them. Maybe when he sees the first gas bill...

I'd like to know where a cord of wood is $120.00 and lasts six months...hum
Here, wood is closer to $200.00 and doesn't last very long...

    Holy smokes!
A full cord of wood here is $40-45! And that's split, delivered & stacked! Some have a 5 cord minimum, but still! Holy smokes!

A cord of wood sure wouldn't last six months if they were using the stove much.

One other thing, for anyone thinking of installing a woodstove, check out your insurance policies. At least here, there are strict guidelines that need to be followed or the insurance companies will not insure you. Also make sure that you have the right chimney.

Rhonda I'm with you. I'd love to have a woodstove. We've talked about it quite a bit, however were not staying in our present home and plan on moving so to invest in a wood stove doesn't make sense (at this time anyways).

We have an antique look woodstove in the living room. We do use it occasionally. Only bad thing is we can't use it past freezing. If we don't letthe gas furnace run with a duct under the house the pipes freeze.
We fortunately locked in our gas price this year. However if high nat gas prices keep up I think we will look into an outdoor woodstove like the neighbors have.
A face cord is about $60 here.

We had a woodstove as a kid, and it kept verything EXTREMELY warm. And my cousin bought my great-grandparent's farm and still have their old wood-burning kitchen stovve. It is always SO warm in there. (Not a bad thing, BTW.) The only thing I don't like about them is the smell. Until recently, my ILs had one, and their house always smelled like burnt hickory. My hair stunk whenever I visited. I hated it.

We have a pellet stove now, which is close enough for me. It never smells.

Kimberly~ Does a pellet stove need a chimney just like a wood stove? Someone was telling me about some type of stove that didn't need venting. Something like that would be perfect for our second floor.

Yes, our pellet stove requires a chimney.
