Default What Are You Reading? - Last Half of July

This is rare for me, but I have two books going at once! I'm reading Small Town Girl by Lavryle Spencer (didn't know if I would enjoy it due to the country music connection - I'm not a country music fan - but I am loving the book just like all of her other work I've read) and God's Most Precious Jewels Are Crystalized Tears by Barbara Johnson.

    What are you reading?

I just finished the book Summerland and am in the middle of Mr. Maybe. Neither are books I'd recommend.

I read mostly magazines in the summer. Rosie, Woman`s Day, Family Circle, Living, Art magazines, National Geographics and the newspaper...Of coarse...not all at the same time! When I go to the library, I pick a couple at a time.

Lucy, do you think the Ramses series would be appropriate for my 13 year old DD? She loves ancient Egypt. By appropriate I mean no sexual content or witchcraft/wizard type stuff.

I am reading "Staying Home Instead" by Christine Davidson. It gives some ideas for saving money so you can be home with the kiddies. It's okay, I skipped over the parts that didn't apply to me.

Danielle, there is some of both. The sexual stuff is not graphic and very few and far between. There is a man who does black magic in the story. The sex is a very tiny thing in the books. The magic is pretty central to the story. I would say though that it is not as much as the Harry Potter books. I hopw this helps!

I just finished Little Altars Everywhere by Rebecca Wells. I'm trying to get into Lord of the Rings by Tolkien, but it is slow going.

Lucy979...I love ancient Egypt. (History teacher here!) Is it non-fiction or fiction? (Although I'm an historian, I'd rather read a story than the history of Egypt.)

Amyboz, they are fiction. I really recommend these books, especially if you love Egypt. What grade do you teach? I have always wanted to be a history teacher. How long did you have to go to school? Sorry for all the questions.
