who is your favorite author?
i think everyone is anxious to find out what we are going to be reading after Christmas including me! just curious about everyone's taste in books.
Who is your fave author?
my top 3 would be: stephen king, patricia cornwell and jonathan kellerman. others include dean koontz, john grisham and i also read books from the bestseller list. i held out reading the davinci code for a long time because it was just too popular but finally read it (after a recommendation from one of the docs i work with) and i loved it.
What is your fave genre?
i like patricia cornwell's books since they have a lot of forensic stuff in them and i find that interesting. so i guess i would say i like murder mysteries the most. other than that i read a great variety. science fiction on the whole either book/movie doesnt hold too great an interest and neither does romance or westerns...but there are always exceptions if something really well done comes along. sometimes when i go to the library i just pick out books that catch my eye--thats how i read the devil wears prada by lauren weisberger (a chick book, which i generally don't read) i absolutely loved that book and laughed out loud while reading it. im hoping the book selection will be like that--a new author/something i havent read and will like.
do you have any fave books that you have read and would read again and again?
i used to read stephen king's the stand at the beginning of the year for 10+ yrs and i think i finally wore myself out on it
ive read all my patricia cornwell (kayscarpetta) books over and over. im planning on reading the da vinci code again someday.
sorry about the ramble
im excited about finding other people that love to read

Ken Follett- he is an AMAZING storyteller. The first book of his that I read was Pillars of the Earth, and the storylines of all the characters were woven together so expertly- it is my favorite book by him, and my favorite book overall. I've read it four or five times in the last 7 yearsd, which is saying a lot, because it is pretty huge.
I don't have a favorite genre- I love many sorts of books. If hard pressed, though, I woulc probably say mystery. I, too, am not generally interested in romance or westerns, an I am not interested in the pulp sci-fi/fantasy books, but some of the better ones I DO like, and I do like sci-fi movies, if they are of good quality.
And I absolutely read books over and over again. Can't wait to read The Time Traveller's Wife again. Ken Follett is one of the few authors whose books I buy anymore (used) because I will absolutely read them again.
I LOVE BOOKS!!!

I have many favorite authors.
Patricia Cornwell
Jennifer Weiner
Orson Scott Card
Kyle Mills
Gregory Maguire
Dean Koontz
John Saul
James Patterson
.....
As for genre, I don't think I have a favorite genre. I'll read just about anything. I enjoy 'chick lit', forensic science (OP, have you read Stiff by Mary Roach? I think you might enjoy it if you like the Kay Scarpetta series), I like sci-fi, I like mystery, true crime, etc. If it's well-written, I'll read it

I love books. You can find me reading a book every night and often during the day. I have so many favorite authors, too numerous to mention here.
Recently I found a new author Robert Whitlow - CBA Frontline call him somewhere between Frank Peretti and John Grisham. He is a lawyer turned author and although his books are inspirational, they keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end.
Emilie Richards is another new author I found this year and I've enjoyed all her books. My two favorites of hers are Endless chain and Wedding Ring
I was recently talking to a friend here in town and she told me she doesn't read books and never has. I can't imagine not reading a good book.

Wow! It changes according to my mood, the time of year, and what I'm currently reading.
Overall, I like 'cozy' mysteries. I've heard that people who like mysteries are searching for order in their lives!
Right now, I'm working my way through the Brother Cadfael series (Ellis Peters).
I find Jane Eyre (Bronte) to my one of my all-time favorites. I re-read it every couple of years.
And I really like Sherlock Holmes. (Doyle)
I started The Time Traveler's Wife ... and didn't get into it. Maybe I should try again.

I read just about everything. I usually have several books going at the same time and will pick up one according to my mood. If I HAD to choose, I would say suspense novels and comic novels. Also love inspirational reading, Christian reading, murder and mayham, best sellers, some sci fi, some romance. Just about everything. I adore John Sanford, Patterson, Koonz and Karon. There are too many books, not enough time!

I read everything. Since I read quickly one of my last new year's resolutions was to balance all the fiction with non-fiction (like balancing junk food with healthy). I've done pretty well. I especially like History, psychology, & Christian non-fiction.
My favorite fiction: the only author I would call a favorite is Jane Austen. I love all her books and re-read them every year. My favorite genres are chick-lit, cozy mysteries, christian fiction, but I will read anything

Joh Steinbeck is my hands down favorite author. However, I LOVE to read, so you will find me reading books all the time.
I like Mercedes Lackey, Marion Chesney, Laurie King, Laurraine Snelling, Bertrice Small, Elliot Roosevelt and many others. I like finding new authors.
Since I work at the library, I am constantly finding books that look good! I take two back and bring three home at least once a week.
As for a favorite genre, I don't know. I like some mysteries, fantasy, romance, and nonfictions. Heck, I like a lot of things, don't I? LOL

I just love reading all kinds of fiction, except sci-fi and I'll give any author a try. I love biographies and autobigraphies too, but not usually of famous people more about ordinary peoples lives and the things they've achieved or experienced.
