Favorite children's authors?
The "favorite authors" thread got m ethinking. I hav emany favorite children's authors that I STILL re-read, even now. How about you guys? I like Beverly Cleary ( a local author!), Betty MacDonald, Walter Farley, Margeruite Henry, Mary Pope Osborne and , of course, Laura Ingall Wilder. Soooo, what do y'all like?

CS Lewis
Ellen Raskin
Kathryn Lasky
Jez Alborough
Roald Dahl
EB White
Seuss
Lynley Dodd
Madeleine L'Engel
And tons of others who had one or two great books. I know I am missing a lot, but these are/were some of my favorites, new and old. I am missing a lot from the ages between little and YA- I read toddler books to DD, so am up on them, and re-read YA books I read when I was a kid, so I am up on them, too. I don't really want to call them one-hit-wonders, but people like Harper Lee (To Kill a Mockingbird) Katherine Paterson (Bridge to Terabithia) TH White (The Once and Future King) Michael Ende (Neverending Story) Frances Hodgson Burnett...I could go on forever and ever and ever. I am finding great new children's authors every week.

Oh, and I LOVE Betty MacDonald! I went out and bought all the Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle books a few years ago.
Kids "fluff" authors that I love are Peggy Parish and Judy Blume.

I've read two of his adult books and not cared for them. I'll have to check out his children's books.

I liked the Betsy-Tacy series by Maud Lovelace and the Pippi Longstocking series by Astrid Lindgren. I also liked the Dick and Jane series of text books. I own and re-read all of these.

HOW could I have forgotten Betsy-Tacy? I love this series!
Did you know that Betty MacDonald (Mrs. Piggle Wiggle series) also wrote "The Egg and I" and "The Plague and I" ? They are adult books and very good.

I knew about The Egg and I, which I haven't read, but I have seen, but have never heard of The Plague and I. I'll have to check and see if our library has it.
