Could you live without your television?
I used to think I could but I have realized that I rely on it for so much, news, weather, entertainment and even some educational things. I have learned how to repair things that I would have never had a clue about by watching some home improvement shows and I love watching the cooking shows and using there recipes. I am almost embarrassed to admit that I am hopelessly hooked on Days of Our Lives. I have watched it my entire life and I really enjoy it.

Could you give up television or is it a part of your routine too?

We could absolutely live without the television!
When it is on, it is normally for background noise. We occasionally sit down and watch a few shows, Dog the Bounty Hunter, but I think we could manage even without that!!

I mostly use it for backgound noise but enjoy having it on in the mornings mostly. I like to listen to NYPD Blue, ER, & Judging Amy reruns in the mornings.
Now dh would die without his cartoons on Sat. and Sun. mornings, lol and Law & Order every evening!

We've been discussing giving ours up. We don't watch anything anymore, maybe 2 shows at the most. We only have "lifeline" cable anyway. We watch lots of dvds and vhs, and Philip plays video games but you don't need cable to do those things. I think our attitudes are so much better without the t.v. though we never watched very much anway.

We could not live without our TV. I might be able to live without service but not the TV. When I am having a really bad day I watch either some Doris Day DVD's or Jane Austen movies. They always lift my moods no matter how bad the pain is that day.

We are giving up our cable TV next month. O doubt I'll watch much on the free TV expect maybe the news. So I guess I could live without it.

I suppose I could give it up. We love to watch Lost but we could always wait until it came out on DVD and watch it on our computer. I also like to watch the sewing programs on PBS on Saturday and I would miss those if we did away with the TV. We don't have cable so we aren't missing anything there.

But we do need the internet!

It may take a little getting used to but in the end I think I could live without it. All my favorite shows I used to watch are over now anyways and I haven't grown attached to any new ones.

Absolutely. We have no cable. And in our area we can't get any stations without cable! We have not had TV for 26 years! Whole generations of TV series and stars have come and gone......
We did have a VCR until last Feb. then it broke. And this Christmas we were given a DVD player by Dh's school. They are used for the occaisional movie and educational shows.

Hmm, I guess I would have to say no to this one!
I don't watch a lot of tv but I like the food shows and do use it for background noise when I am home alone.

Absolutely could and would give it up. Best nights around here is when we're reading or studying and no TV on. Things are peaceful. Wouldn't you agree that the TV adds unsettling noise to the home?
Now, I can't speak for DH, DD, DD, DS! They're all into the TV and when I suggested having a TV-free week- they all freaked out! and told me I'd have to go to a hotel if I wanted a TV free week.
Where's my suitcase!!! I'm outta here!

Although there are certain programs that I enjoy I could give it up if necessary. But I'd still like to be able to watch DVD's etc so I would need something to show them on!
But I would never be able to give up my music or my computer!

We don't have any television/cable and have been without it for over three years. We watch only DVD's or listen to the radio.
